If you lose power and don't have a generator or another backup source of heat, here are some tips to stay warm.

-Bring everyone into one room. Smaller rooms are easier to keep warm. If possible, choose a south-facing room that will benefit from the warmth of the sun. If you have a wood-burning stove, gather in the room where it is.

-Bundle up with quilts, sleeping bags, and dress in multiple, loose layers.

-Camp out indoors. If you have a tent, you can set it up indoors and sleep inside it to trap heat.

-Use a propane heater rated for indoor use. Follow all manufacturer directions carefully. Make sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Never leave heaters unattended and turn them off while you sleep.

-Seal off window and door leaks. You can use commercial products, or simply hang blankets over drafty areas, and stuff towels under doors.

Our team is out tonight delivering warm items to neighbors living outside, including blankets, socks, sleeping bags, gloves, hand warmers, flashlights, and ready-to-eat food.

Cold weather can be dangerous, but together we can help make it a little safer.

If you’d like to support this important work, we’re accepting donations of:
• New socks, gloves, hats, and blankets
• Hand warmers and small flashlights
• Easy-open canned meals and bottled water

Drop-offs can be made at our office during business hours or in the First United Methodist Church foyer baskets.

Every small act of kindness keeps someone warm tonight. 💙

🌙 Cold Grace Shelter Active Sunday (11/9), Monday (11/10), and Tuesday (11/11).

The temperature is expected to drop, and with that, we are activating Cold Grace Shelter again this evening.

When the weather turns freezing, no one in Haywood County should have to face the cold alone.
Cold Grace provides safe, overnight shelter for up to 15 guests — a warm bed, calm environment, and compassionate care.

🕢 Intake: 7:30–10:30 p.m.
☀️ Checkout: 8:00 a.m.

Guests will receive bedding and a warm place to rest through the night.
All are welcomed with dignity and respect — no one should sleep outside when warmth is available inside.

💜 How You Can Help:
We’re still in need of volunteers for check-in and check-out support during activation nights.
If you’d like to serve, email [email protected]
Financial gifts are also appreciated and help cover meals, staffing, and utilities: haywoodpathwayscenter.org

Let’s make sure every neighbor stays safe and warm tonight.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Bradley Joseph Suggs.

Bradley never met a stranger — everywhere he went, he made friends with his big laugh, kind heart, and adventurous spirit. He was larger than life, full of energy, and loved deeply. Among the many things Bradley cared about, animals always held a special place in his heart.

To honor his memory, Bradley’s family asks that donations be made to Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation, a cause close to him and his loved ones:

Bradley’s light will be dearly missed, but the love and laughter he shared will live on in all who knew him.
