🌧️ THE WEATHER CAN’T STOP THE MISSION (BUT IT’S TRYING!) 🛠️🚧

It was a tough one. Between the rain and the mud, the weather held us back from getting to everyone on the schedule. Every day it pours is a day a family has to wait longer for a safe vehicle—and that is exactly why we are fighting so hard to get into our new shop!

THE REALITY OF RAIN DELAYS:
Because we are currently at the mercy of the clouds, we are having to shuffle our entire schedule, moving appointments around and trying to "refit" the neighbors we couldn't get to this week that were on the schedule. Our clients deserve consistency, and a shop is the only way to give it to them.

Despite the elements, we stayed busy! This week’s photos show:

🔧 A Torque Strut Motor Mount replacement.

🔍 A Full Safety Inspection where we caught a torn CV axle boot.

⚡ A "no-start" we tracked down to a badly corroded ground wire.

🚘 New front struts, sway bar links, and a battery.

🛞 A passenger bearing replacement and a tricky tire plug.

4 Shops. 2 Years. 1 Big Decision for the CSRA! 🛠️🏙️
The search is officially ON! We have narrowed it down to 4 potential shop locations across the CSRA that we will be touring next week. This is the biggest decision we’ve made yet, but we need your help to know which door to walk through.

Why a Shop? It’s about more than just a roof.
While our van has been a blessing, a permanent shop allows us to serve the community at a much higher level:
🚀 Increased Capacity: In a shop, we can work on multiple vehicles at once, regardless of rain, wind, or the Georgia heat.
🚀 Faster Turnaround: With all our tools and supplies in one place, we can get families back on the road much faster than we can in a driveway.
🚀 No More Limits: A shop finally ends our 50-mile mobile limit. If you can get your car to us, we can fix it—no matter where you live!

Wait—if we get a shop, does the van go away?
The answer is a loud NO. We are moving to a Hybrid Model to ensure no one is left behind:
✅ The Shop: Our high-capacity hub with a climate-controlled office for volunteers and a cool waiting room for families.
✅ The Van: We will STILL offer mobile repairs for those within our 50-mile radius who simply cannot get their vehicle to the shop.

The Challenge: Finding the "Goldilocks" Space
Each location requires a 2-year lease, with rent ranging from $1,200 to $2,250 a month (plus utilities). Our priority is finding a shop that is not too small—we want a space that allows for the most GROWTH so we don't outgrow it in a few months.

But we can only sign a 2-year lease on the larger "Growth Shop" if we have the monthly support to back it up. We are looking for:

⚡ The Power Partner ($200/mo): Keeps the shop lights on and the office AC running for our families and volunteers. (Our electric will cost around $200/mo).

🛠️ The Service Partner ($50/mo): Covers the cost of specialized tools and shop supplies needed to keep both the shop and the van running at full speed.

🏗️ The Foundation Crew ($25/mo): Enough people at this crew level will help us confidently secure that 2-year lease on the right-sized building.

🛠️ THE MOBILE SHOP HAS BEEN ROLLING! 🚛💨
I’ll be the first to admit—I’m better with a wrench than a camera! I get so focused on the repair that I forget to snap pictures, but we managed to grab a few of the recent jobs. 📸

Here’s a look at what we’ve been tackling lately to keep our clients safe and reliable:

🔍 DIAGNOSTICS & SAVES
Front End Inspection: A client was worried about a noise—turns out it was just bolts that hadn't been tightened all the way by a previous shop! We got them torqued to spec and safe again. 🔩

Smoke Test & Tune-up: Found some tricky vacuum leaks with a smoke test. Followed up with a new valve cover gasket, spark plugs, wires, and a fresh oil change.

Brake Save: During a routine coolant and brake inspection, we found barely any pad left on the brakes. Glad we caught it before it became a metal-on-metal emergency! 🛑

Coolant Leak Detection: Tracked down a mystery leak to keep that engine from overheating.

⛓️ SUSPENSION & DRIVETRAIN OVERHAULS
Full Front End Refresh: Upper control arms, inner and outer tie rod ends, and sway bar links. We also handled a heater core connector replacement while we were there!

CV Axle & Brakes: Replaced a front CV axle along with front and rear pads to get this ride back to being smooth and quiet. 🎡

Maintenance: Replaced both radiator hoses and performed a full suspension lubrication.

⚡ LEAK REPAIRS & IGNITION
Multiple Valve Cover Gasket replacements this week!

Spark plug and ignition coil replacements to fix those misfires.

🛠️ TWO WEEKS OF MOBILE REPAIRS IN THE BOOKS! 🚛💨
It’s been a busy 14 days! From simple maintenance to major suspension overhauls, we’ve been all over the area keeping our clients safe and on the road.

Check out the lineup from the last two weeks:

🔩 MAJOR REPAIRS & DIAGNOSTICS:
CHEVROLET Tahoe: Complete front & rear overhaul! Replaced rear shocks, front shocks, upper & lower control arms, sway bar links, and outer tie rod ends. 🏗️

NISSAN Versa: Replaced all 3 engine and transmission mounts.

FORD Explorer Sport Trac: New fuel pump installation.

HYUNDAI Sonata & TOYOTA Camry: Fresh starters installed to get them firing up again. ⚡

KIA Soul: Diagnosed a performance issue down to a clogged catalytic converter.

🛑 BRAKES, SUSPENSION & TIUNE-UPS:
TOYOTA Sienna: New front pads, rotors, and spark plugs.

NISSAN Altima: Inspected a "suspension noise" that turned out to be worn-out brakes.

TOYOTA Corolla: Diagnosed a front-end pop as a failing ball joint.

We also kept the engines happy with oil changes and multi-point inspections on a BMW 328i, BUICK LeSabre, BUICK Encore, and a CHEVROLET Equinox.

🛠️ THANK YOU, THOMSON! 🛠️
​We had an incredible time this past Saturday at the Tackle Thomson Outreach! It was a privilege to get out into the community and use our mobile setup to help our neighbors stay safe on the road.
​🙌 A HUGE SHOUTOUT TO THE TEAM!
​I want to send a massive THANK YOU to our amazing team of volunteers! We couldn't have pulled this off without your hard work and dedication. You guys crushed it, and your energy made the day a huge success!
​We’re proud to have completed Safety Inspections on 9 different vehicles! 🚛💨
​We didn't just look—we got to work! For those 9 vehicles, we:
​✅ Topped off engine oil
​✅ Filled up washer fluid
​✅ Set tire pressures to the correct PSI
​🔍 What we found: During our walk-arounds, we identified several vehicles that will be needing suspension work and brake replacements in the near future. Catching these issues early is the best way to stay safe and avoid expensive repairs down the line!
