It was announced today that J. Craig Venter passed away. Craig was a power user of Applied Biosystems' products, starting before my tenure with DNA sequencers. Most of his seminal papers pioneering shotgun sequencing of genomes, utilized our products and his influence spurred revenue generation during the early days of genomics. His involvement at Celera Genomics, was a driver behind the development of the 3700 DNA sequencer. And that created an arms race to sequence the human genome. The rest is history.

Dear Friends and colleagues:

With significant sadness I have to announce that the LACE-2025 Symposium, intended to be held in Puerto Rico, or Florida-Texas in the U.S.,has been cancelled. The main reason, a lack of economical support.

There is a possibility of having LACE-2026 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We are investigating all the possibilities of support starting now with Nora Vizioli from the University of Buenos Aires.

I thank you very much to all of you that have giving significant support to all the LACE Symposium throughout the years.

Looking forward to see you in 2026, and I hope to have your support.
