Hello to our village! We have some exciting news to share!

A little less than 2 years ago, RJ committed to NC State. Within a 2 week period of his commitment, he found himself in the midst of a sudden, very unexpected, and raging storm.

Cancer.

Shattered hearts. Shattered dreams. But God.

NC State deferred his enrollment and committed to a standing offer once he was medically cleared.

RJ is coasting through the maintenance phase of his treatment with infusions once every 3 months with his last infusion scheduled for November 2026.

Remission.

On May 14th, RJ will report to NC State to begin the medical clearance process so that he can begin workouts with his team with move in day 2 days later on May 16th.

Restoration.

Many of you have expressed your desire to be a part of his transition to NC State. We have created an Amazon Wish List, linked below, and will place the link in the comments as well.

We are forever grateful for a community that has carried us through. We are grateful to God for complete healing and restoration of the desires of RJ’s heart. The journey continues. Stay tuned…

Hello to our villiage! It’s been a while! We hope that you have all enjoyed quality time and good food with those you love most over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Infusions once a month since our last post have brought us even closer to complete healing.

Today, high school athletes are signing to play ball at colleges across the country. Summer of 2024, a little over a month after his commitment to NC State, RJ was suddenly and unexpectedly faced with the fight of and for his life. His dream to play football on the next level quickly became another number on the list of unknowns. But God.

We are truly humbled, so grateful to God, and excited to share with you all that RJ is now in remission with his last infusion scheduled for November 2026. He will maintain a “maintenance phase” of treatment until then.

As we continue to stand with and honor those who have paved the way before us, we are thankful to have come out carrying the bucket of water for those still consumed by the fire! Be encouraged! Keep fighting! No one fights alone!

Life with cancer is life challenged by death;
Faith challenged by fear;
Strength challenged by weakness;
Delay challenged by denial;
It is carrying your Cross while searching for the footprints in the sand; RJ’s story for God’s glory.

The weapon formed but it did not prosper!! Delay is not denial!

Today we are so excited to announce that all roads lead to NC State!! What a comeback!!

Hello to our Villiage! We hope you all have enjoyed some Summer fun and relaxation with those you love. We’ve tried our best to do the same.

RJ has now completed 6 more infusions since our last post - Infusions 47-52. He rises to the challenge and makes it look easy but his body has truly endured so much. His strength is inspirational to so many. We thank God for protection, comfort, and healing.

This week last year marked the beginning of uncharted territory for us. We suddenly and unexpectedly found ourselves in the midst of a raging storm. RJ, exhausted and in excruciating pain, was evaluated at our local ER then transferred to Savannah Memorial Children’s Hospital where he would spend the next 10 days being evaluated and treated for what was initially suspected to be a bone infection. All inclusive was a biopsy, countless labs and quite a bit of imaging Little did we know his symptoms did not result from infection but rather a vulnerability surfacing in his body ultimately resulting in a dreaded diagnosis. The ugly C-word. But, here we are rising above and overcoming greatful for healing.

This week also brings us to yet another infusion. Today marks Infusion 53. We have reached the last, and most lengthy, phase of treatment. Please continue to call RJ’s name out in prayer. We humbly ask that you specifically pray for traveling mercies, the side effects to be calmed and for complete healing. As always, thank you for your love, prayers and support that continue to carry us thru. 💚💛
