Last night, the school board unanimously voted to move to a JK-6 elementary configuration starting in the 2029-30 school year. The research shows that this model is better for kids and academic outcomes.

The move to JK-6 is part of a multi-step, long-term facilities process that also involves drawing down open enrollment and boundary changes to balance school enrollments. The plan for grades 7-12 has not yet been finalized, and the district is exploring different options for the secondary schools.

In the meantime, our elementary schools will remain vibrant neighborhood hubs for years to come. In order to ensure that our elementary buildings are safe and accessible, it is important that we invest in these facilities by voting YES.

Wondering how the school referenda might affect your tax bill? Check out the new calculator just posted on the school district's Tosa 2075 page. Also, make sure you're considering your home's assessed value and not Zillow. For a home assessed at $350K, voting Yes to both questions will increase your annual property taxes by $735, or about $14 a week. We think that's a bargain for strong schools, excellent educators, and functional facilities. See the comments for calculator links.
