An opportunity.

This year, the Waupaca High School Scholarship Foundation awarded $275,450 to 66 students through 138 scholarships. Some of those scholarships were created decades ago. Some honor parents, grandparents, teachers, veterans, farmers, business owners, and community members whose names continue to open doors long after they're gone.

Think about that for a minute.

A student you've never met will attend college, learn a trade, start a career, or chase a dream because someone in this community decided to invest in a future they would never personally see.

That's the power of a scholarship.

Where are they now?! We often wonder where our scholarship recipients end up. How did our foundation help them achieve their goals and aspirations? Well, here's a past recipient that was inspired to come back to her roots! Let's give a shoutout to Mrs. Erin Magdanz, our beloved Agriscience teacher and FFA Advisor at WHS! Here's what Erin has to say about her path back...

"When I was a high school senior, the Waupaca HS Scholarship Foundation gave me more than just financial support - they gave me a path forward. Their scholarship assisted me in attending school and pursuing my passion for agriculture. Today, I'm proud to be back in my hometown as the high school agriculture teacher. The opportunity the scholarship foundation provided didn't just assist me in the first few years of school but it made it possible for me to return to the community that invested in me and give back in meaningful ways.

What makes this full-circle moment even more special is watching my senior students see what's possible. When they meet an educator who was once where they are, someone who received community support and chose to stay connected to her roots, it can send a powerful message: your dreams are achievable, and your community believes in you.

The Waupaca Scholarship Foundation's investment in students like me ripples far beyond graduation. It shows young people that opportunities are real, that hard work pays off, and that giving back to your community matters."

During Teacher Appreciation Week, the Waupaca High School Scholarship Foundation would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the incredible educators of the School District of Waupaca. Your daily commitment, patience, and passion make a lasting impact on our students and our community.

We’d also like to recognize a meaningful gesture from our teachers. In past, the school board provided tokens of appreciation - but our teachers selflessly requested that those funds instead be directed toward a scholarship for a graduating senior. That decision speaks volumes about the heart and dedication of this group.

Thank you for all that you do inside and outside the classroom.

We are incredibly grateful to the McCausland family for establishing a scholarship in memory of Teresa McCausland. Teresa was a proud parent of three Waupaca graduates.

This meaningful scholarship will support students pursuing careers in healthcare at both 2 and 4 year colleges - an inspiring way to honor Teresa’s legacy of care and compassion.

Past WHS Grads!! Scholarship Alert$$!! APPLY NOW!!

Post-Secondary Scholarships now available! Are you a graduate of Waupaca High School and presently attending a Technical College or University?! 2 scholarship opportunities are now available..

The Waupaca Nomad's Scholarship in the amount of $1000 is awarded to a student that will be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year in college or technical college. The applicant must have graduated from Waupaca High School, must be working to pay for college and have some community service.

The David R. Johnson Mathematics Scholarship in the amount of $2500 (renewable for up to four years) will be awarded to a Waupaca High School graduate who is pursuing a degree in mathematics education. The applicant will be given special consideration if they have taken four years of high school mathematics courses, and were a member of the math team at Waupaca High School. The applicant must have graduated from Waupaca High School.

Thank you to the Gary Grant family for the creation of the Gary C. Grant scholarship! This scholarship will support students going to technical college for careers in welding, automotive, and electrical!

In 1995, Virginia “Jinny” Niemuth made the thoughtful decision to support future Waupaca High School graduates through scholarships. Though Jinny has passed, her generosity and commitment to students will continue to make a difference.

Beginning this year, the Nelson–Niemuth Scholarship will support WHS graduates pursuing a degree at a university or technical college. 🎓
