I’m not saying grief changes everything, but I’m not not saying it.

The reason this community exists is one none of us would ever choose.

You didn’t choose the loss. You didn’t choose the grief. But you can choose to be intentional with how you care for yourself inside of it.

Move your body. Make space for what you’re carrying. Show up. Let people in.

No one can do your grief work for you. But you were never meant to do all of it alone.

So yeah… I’m not saying grief changes everything, but I’m not not saying it.

And if it has changed everything for you, there’s a BRAVE community here to hold space for it all.

Grief lives in the body, too.

In the exhaustion.
The tension.
The brain fog.
The nights you cannot sleep.
The days ordinary things feel impossibly heavy.

Sometimes caring for your grief means more than talking about it.

It means moving. Resting. Breathing. Crying. Slowing down. Giving your body somewhere to put some of what grief carries.

That is part of why we created BRAVE Moves — space for bereaved mothers to move with grief, not from it, alongside people who understand.

Your body has been holding love and loss at the same time.

Be gentle with it.

Some names are spoken every day. Some live quietly in a parent’s heart. All of them matter.

On October 4, we’ll gather in Greendale for A Walk to Remember—a free community event honoring all babies and children who died before birth or lived into adulthood.

We’ll walk. We’ll remember. We’ll say their names. We’ll make space for the love that is still here.

A few words to carry with you through September:

You do not have to be okay just because the calendar changed.

Some days, getting through the day is enough.

You can miss them and still let something make you smile.

You do not owe anyone a “better” version of your grief.

There is no right way to carry a month that holds heavy things.

Rest is not giving up.

You are allowed to protect your peace.

Take September one day at a time.
One hour at a time if you need to.

And on the days when even that feels like too much— just make it through this moment.

Dear Partners,

We are excited to invite you to participate in the Inaugural Alana Love & Loss Lecture: Transforming Perinatal Loss Bereavement Support. Together. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Jeff Levy Education Center in Madison.

The Alana Love & Loss Lecture was created to bring together bereaved families, healthcare professionals, researchers, and community partners to share stories and evidence that deepen understanding of pregnancy and infant loss, bridge the gap between family experience and clinical practice, and inspire meaningful change in perinatal bereavement care.

This year's event is especially focused on reaching healthcare providers, and we would love the support of our partners in making this inaugural event a success.

There are several ways you can participate:

Help us PROMOTE the event to healthcare providers. Please share the attached flyer and registration information with physicians, nurses, midwives, doulas, social workers, mental health professionals, and other healthcare and community professionals who support families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. We especially appreciate sharing through professional networks, email lists, newsletters, social media, and organizational partners.

HOST a resource table. Partner tables will be located in the lobby outside the conference room for attendees to visit during check-in and again during the reception following the lecture. If you would like to host a table, please email Anna at [email protected] no later than Friday, September 25. Resource tables cannot be used to sell items or services.

Provide MATERIALS for attendee swag bags. If you have brochures, resource cards, small giveaways, or other materials you would like included, please provide 100 copies/items. Materials must be mailed or dropped off no later than Friday, September 25. Email [email protected] to coordinate drop-off of materials.

The program will feature internationally recognized perinatal bereavement leader Rana Limbo, PhD, RN, CPLC, FAAN, along with a panel representing both clinical and family perspectives.

We hope you will join us and help connect healthcare professionals with the incredible network of grief and bereavement resources available throughout Wisconsin. Whether you attend, host a table, contribute materials, or simply help spread the word, your partnership can help us reach the professionals caring for families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
