The U.S. has utilized the highly trained Military Working Dog since 1942; but their military use dates back over 2,600 years. Catch their history:

Ancient Warfare (c. 600 BC): Dogs were used as sentries and combatants.

19th Century: Dogs were used informally during the American Civil War, often acting as companions, mascots, or messengers.

World War I: European nations utilized dogs extensively for messenger and sentry duties.

World War II (1942): The U.S. implemented an official "War Dog Program" (K-9 Corps) on March 13, 1942, training roughly 11,000 dogs for the Army.

Modern Era: Today, Military Working Dogs (MWDs) are highly trained specialists who work military operations for detection, tracking, and protection and are a recognized branch under the Department of Defense.

Lest we forget the emotional and physical support our hard-working service members provide both Active Duty and Veteran members while on the job…

Today we celebrate 84 years of the U.S. Navy Seabees. 🐝

On March 5, 1942, the Seabees were officially established — creating a unique force ready to both build and fight. From the islands of the Pacific during World War II to today’s missions around the globe, Seabees have carried forward the proud “Can Do” spirit.

The Navy Seabee Foundation is proud to support the Seabee community by preserving Seabee history & heritage, providing scholarships to Seabee children & grandchildren, supporting and connecting Seabees during and after military service. We’re all about Seabees. Learn more at seabee.org.

Happy Birthday, Seabees! 🐝

On February 23, 1945, American Marines raised the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. This iconic moment—captured in the legendary photograph by Joe Rosenthal—became one of the most recognizable images of WWII and symbolizes the courage and determination of our servicemembers. We honor their memory today.

On this Veterans Day, the air feels still — as if the world itself pauses to remember. 🇺🇸🕊️ Beneath the rising sun, flags wave softly in the morning light, carrying whispers of gratitude for those who gave their strength, their time, and in many cases, their lives for something greater than themselves.

To all who have worn the uniform — thank you. You stood when duty called, walked through fear with courage, and faced the unknown so that others could live in peace. Your bravery does not fade with time; it echoes through generations, reminding us what honor truly means.

Today, we remember not just your service, but your humanity — the families who waited, the sacrifices unseen, the hope that carried you through long nights far from home.

May this day be a reminder that freedom is never free. It’s built on the shoulders of heroes — like you — who chose love of country over comfort.

We salute you, today and always. May peace surround you, and may your legacy continue to shine like the dawn over a grateful nation. ❤️🤍💙
