Relay For Life of the North Country

Relay For Life of the North Country The Boonville Relay for Life began in 2005 by two very speical people. Kathy Lansing and Diane Hendrickson.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life changing event that everyone in communities a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Over ten years, the Boonville RFL has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars in the fight against cancer. The Relay For Life of Remsen began in 2004 by Ann Turner, who

was the Superintendent of Remsen Central School. Over ten years, the event raised nearly $350,000 for the fight against cancer. In 2014, both event committees decided they could better involve and represent all of the communities in Northern Oneida & Herkimer Counties by combining their resources - so, the Relay For Life of the North Country was born! Join us as we continue to celebrate, remember and fight back in 2015 and beyond! At Relay, teams of people camp out at the Boonville Onieda County Fairgrounds taking turns walking around the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length. Each year, more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities gather to take part in this global phenomenon and raise much needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer.
