Greetings friends.
We know that this post is long overdue and for that we sincerely apologize. Life happens to all of us or maybe we just plain forgot that we needed to make this post.
First off, we are amazed at the success of last year's tournament. There was a significant hurdle that we had to overcome, that was totally out of our control. Mother Nature decided that she wanted to dump several inches of water on us the morning of the tournament. Thankfully Highland Meadows staff worked with us and made it possible for us to move the tournament to the following day. Most teams were able to play on Sunday and we tried to fill in empty team slots.
We would like to thank all of the teams, players and several other important people for making this happen.
A huge shout out to Highland Meadows Golf Course for letting us host this tournament, as this was Alec's home golf course. Thank you for letting us move the tournament to the following day and for being so accommodating to our needs. You're the best.
This tournament is a huge success and that is largely in part due to our sponsors and donors. From the cash donations to the donations from locals business for raffles, we are able to generate more to give back to our teams. The sponsorships were also a huge part of this.
Lastly, a special thanks to the committee members that help put this all together, specifically Andy Storino, Corey and Joelle Decillis, Deryl and Alicia Deveau, Jean Goodfriend and Leslie Kampnich. In order to plan a tournament of this caliber that pays respect to such a special person requires a lot of time, planning and compassion and it would be wrong not to recognize these special people.
Due to the success of this tournament we were able to make a sizable donation to the "Salute Military Golf Association", a program that Alec was highly involved. He was passionate about the SMGA and it was only fitting that we donate a large portion of our money to them. With the help of all of you, we have consistently been able to make a sizable donation each year.
We were also able to continue our annual scholarship to students at Lind High School.
