Cᴀᴍᴘᴇʀsʜɪᴘ ɴᴇᴇᴅs ʏᴏᴜʀ ʜᴇʟᴘ!
The recent sale of the Republican American newspaper, the primary support of Campership for nearly 60 years, struck a tremendous blow to our operations.
Thanks to the generosity of our many donors over the years, we've built a small reserve, allowing us to send more than 350 kids to camp this summer despite a near cessation of donations.
We're getting the message out - Campership is still here and still sending kids to camp! We are looking to our future and evaluating options to allow us to continue to send children to camp in future years. In the meantime, we need your help!
Below is the mailer we recently sent to previous donors. Over the next weeks, we'll be spotlighting donors who've responded to our call for help. We are still accepting donations, and any amount is welcome and so very appreciated!
Donations may be sent to:

[MAILER TEXT]:
Donations from generous contributors like you have allowed generations of children to experience summer camp, and kids need your help today more than ever.
In 2024, Greater Waterbury Campership Fund was able to send more than 300 children to camp; the total cost of tuition was nearly $150,000.
This year, we approved more than 350 children to attend 7 camps in the greater Waterbury area, with tuition costs exceeding $175,000. While we are thrilled to have more children attend summer camps in 2025, we can’t do it without your help.
Since 1969, Campership, a registered 501(c)(3), has been an all-volunteer organization, with operational costs provided by directed sponsorships or absorbed by the Republican-American newspaper. With the sale of the newspaper, we’ve lost not only that support, but the visibility we had in the weekly articles celebrating our donors.

The Campership Board, which includes community leaders who work in public service, banking, the medical field, and other nonprofits, is working to ensure our continued ability to send children to summer camp. Though the popular Camp Mataucha pizza truck fundraiser will not return, we are exploring options to both fundraise and celebrate our donors.
In the meantime, summer draws to a close and tuition bills arrive daily. We humbly ask again for your support. Donations of any size will be gratefully accepted at the address above, and will be recognized on our page. Every volunteer Campership director, and every child who is a recipient of a campership, will appreciate knowing you helped make this life-changing experience possible.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support of Campership, and for helping us provide for our community’s greatest resource—our children!
