This week’s goes to the National Military Family Association (NMFA), an organization that’s been standing up for military families for over 50 years.

They work every day to make sure caregivers and spouses have access to the tools and resources they need, including captioned phones that help families stay connected.

Families serve alongside our troops. NMFA makes sure they’re supported every step of the way.

This week’s goes to the Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services , working behind the scenes to make sure veterans and their families are seen, heard, and supported.

They help break down barriers to everything from employment to communication, making sure tools like captioned telephones are accessible and available.

To mark the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Federal Communications Commission recognized four leaders advancing accessible communications through policy, innovation, and research. The 2025 Chairman’s Awards for Advancement in Accessibility were presented to:

Victoria Bond, for developing emergency response protocols for ASL users in Arizona

Greg Hlibok, for decades of leadership in relay services and accessibility policy at the FCC

Nikolas Kelly, for developing AI-powered ASL translation tools at Sign-Speak

Dr. Christian Vogler, for his groundbreaking telecom accessibility research at Gallaudet University
Clear2Connect congratulates the awardees and applauds their efforts to make communications access a reality for more people, including Veterans with hearing loss.

The FCC Chairman’s Awards for Advancement in Accessibility (Chairman’s AAA) recognize outstanding private and public-sector ventures – by individuals, organizations, academics, companies and government agencies – that advance accessibility for people with disabilities.

The Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) has been advocating for veterans with vision loss for almost 80 years.

Today’s highlights their work helping blind and low-vision veterans access services, from tech to community support.
Access to communication is just one piece of the puzzle, and BVA makes sure it’s not overlooked.
