🍎✨ NEW: PROJECT OF THE YEAR – YEAR OF THE APPLE! ✨🍎

Calling all Daviess County 4-H members! Are you looking for a project that lets your creativity shine? Then the Project of the Year is for you!

This year's theme is simple: APPLE! 🍎

Whether you love baking, sewing, woodworking, art, photography, crafts, research, or creating something completely unique, this project gives you the freedom to showcase your talents and interests.

Some ideas include:
🍏 Baking an apple pie, bread, cake, or other apple treat
🎨 Drawing, painting, or creating apple-themed artwork
🧵 Sewing an item with apple fabric or appliques
📚 Creating a poster about apple varieties, Johnny Appleseed, or apple history
🍎 Drying or dehydrating apples for a craft or snack
🪵 Building a woodcraft project shaped like an apple
✨ Or anything else inspired by apples!

The best part? There are no limits to your imagination. Members in Beginner (Grades 3-5), Intermediate (Grades 6-8), and Advanced (Grades 9-12) divisions can all participate.

This exciting project idea was submitted by a former Daviess County 4-H member and current supporter who wanted to create a project that encourages creativity and allows every member to explore their interests.

Simply create your apple-themed exhibit and include a 5" x 8" card explaining what you made (and your recipe if it's a food item).

🍎 Think outside the orchard and show us what YOU can create! We can't wait to see all the amazing apple-inspired projects at the fair this year! 🍏🍎

The Daviess County 4-H Dog Club is having their annual Dog Agility Fun Match on June 27, 2026.

Fees: $20.00 per class per dog for first entry/$5.00 for 2nd entry per dog per class, with each dog having a 2-run limit (and dogs can run in same class twice for more practice if desired)

Awards: Ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 in each class and prizes to the top 2.
Location: Daviess County 4-H Grounds 4-H Way Washington, in 47501

Show will be held under roof, Rain or Shine!
**Bring your Lawn Chairs, Crates, and Fans with extension cords**

This year 4-H Members have an opportunity to participate in the Lawn and Garden & Zero Turn Operator Skills Contest at the Elnora Fairgrounds. The contest will take place on June 18, 2026, at 602 Park Rd, Elnora, IN 47529. Registration is open from now until June 5th.

This will be for projects:
-Lawn and Garden
-Zero-Turn
-Tractor

🍀SENIOR SPOTLIGHT🍀
Janae is a 10-year member of the Daviess County 4-H Program. Janae has two favorite projects, Home Environment and Sunflower. Janae says that 4-H has helped her step out of her comfort zone and learn new interests that she wouldn't have gotten without 4-H. Janae plans to attend college at USI for Nursing!

A fun fact about Janae is that she has won 3 Special Merit ribbons at the Indiana State Fair. This is a huge accomplishment!

We know you will excel in whatever and wherever the future holds.

Join us for Food Truck Friday!

Head over to the Daviess County Courthouse tomorrow, May 22nd, from 11 AM – 2 PM and enjoy a delicious lunch from The Callahan Stand, serving Daviess County for over 100 years.

Grab your coworkers, bring your friends, or pack a blanket and make it a picnic on the courthouse lawn. It’s the perfect way to spend your lunch break!

Invasive Species Spotlight:

⚠FREE Invasive Control Kits are back for 2026. ⚠

Kits include hand tools, 5-gallon bucket, silky folding saw, herbicide dauber, measuring cup, nitrile gloves, eye protection and more!

Landowners and residents with invasive plants in Daviess, Martin, and Orange counties are eligible for a free kit following an invasive species site visit.

FairEntry is now open and projects can be put in for the 2026 Daviess County 4-H Fair.
