Big thanks to Cowlitz River Project Manager Chad Chalmers, assistants, and on-site crew for inviting and leading Thrive Toledo on a tour of the Mossyrock Dam last Friday! The experience was eye-opening and mind-blowing - a great followup to last month's skillshare with Lewis County Emergency Management!

Friends, it's time to winterize our garden and get our beds ready for next spring. We can use grass clipping and leaves. If you have a way to transport, please drop them at Neighbors Hall. 5516 Jackson Hwy. Our garden crew is often there Friday mornings but if nobody is available, pile them by the chips and manure piles. Thanks so much!

EARTHQUAKE EMERGENCY PREPARATION IN TOLEDO: Thrive Toledo has announced it will host an emergency preparedness presentation specific to earthquake preparedness for Toledo and surrounding areas, a news release from event organizers stated.

This event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Steamboat Landing, 115 Ramsey Way, in downtown Toledo.

Lewis County Emergency Management will provide information, and local emergency and fire departments will be in attendance.

Toledo is at elevated risk from earthquakes due to its location downstream from the Cowlitz River, in addition to overdue seismic repairs on the Mossyrock Dam, recent offshore quakes, and proximity to the Cascadian Subduction Fault.

Thrive Toledo is a group offering free classes on resilience, self-sufficiency and community connection, according to the news release.
