Friends, we have some very welcome news to share! PANS & PANDAS take the national stage today with the publication of a groundbreaking feature story in New York Magazine by renowned author and PANS mom, Jessica Slice. Jessica’s piece brings much-needed visibility to the gap between research and clinical practice while exposing the avoidable human cost of delayed diagnosis and inadequate treatment. The Alex Manfull Fund and the Look.Foundation are thrilled to support Jessica in this effort and will continue this important dialogue as partners in an exciting upcoming special series. Stay tuned for more details!

Now, we need our community to join the conversation.

Please read the article and comment directly on the New York Magazine article page.

If PANS/PANDAS has impacted your child, your family, your patients or someone you love, share your experience. Your stories matter, and this is an opportunity for the medical community and a much broader audience to hear directly from the people living this reality.

Please keep comments thoughtful and respectful, but let your voices be heard.

Our children and young adults deserve to be taken seriously. They deserve access to proper diagnosis, treatment and care.

Our kids deserve care.

I took this picture because something about this path felt familiar.

I knew, in that moment, that it reminded me of how I’ve been feeling—like I’m exhausted, like I’m done, like the weight I’m carrying is sometimes too much… but I can’t stop. I have to keep going. I have to keep fighting.

It took me a few days to understand exactly why this picture stayed with me.

Then I realized… it felt like our journey with PANS/PANDAS.

Sometimes the path isn’t clear.

There are stones scattered everywhere—moved over time, shifted by the weather, the wind, and the years of people making their way up this hill. Some parts of the path are almost impossible to see, while other places give you just enough to know where to place your next step.

It’s a hard climb.
It’s steep.
It’s windy.
And sometimes, the weight you are carrying feels like it’s just too much.

There are moments when you stumble. Moments when you fall. Moments when you wonder how you could possibly take another step.

And sometimes, you’re doing it alone.

Just like this path in the middle of the woods, there may be no one around to see the struggle. No one who truly knows what you’re carrying. No one who can fully understand the fear, exhaustion, heartbreak, and strength it takes just to keep moving forward.

But somehow… you get back up.

You find the next stone.
You steady yourself.
You take another step.

Not because the climb suddenly became easier, but because you keep fighting.

For yourself.
For your children.
For your family.

You keep going even when no one sees how hard it is.

You keep going when your own weight feels too heavy to carry.

You keep going when the path ahead is uncertain and you can’t see where it leads.

Maybe the stones aren’t there to make the journey easy. Maybe they simply remind us that even on the hardest climb, there is something beneath our feet.

One step.
One breath.
One day at a time.

And somehow, even when we can’t see the whole path, we keep finding our way up.

To every PANS/PANDAS family still climbing—I see you. I know this climb. Keep going. 🫶🏼

Have felt this so much in life. It’s such an extremely hard balance. You have to give grace to those who have no clue what your daily is like. So hard when most days you have nothing left to give 💚
