Hearing someone openly stutter after a lifetime of being told to hide it can be completely life-changing.

“When I connect with the stuttering community… it does wonders for my journey and my self-acceptance.” — Alan Vu, SLP, person who stutters, and small-business owner.

This is what our Annual Conference is all about. Come experience it for yourself in Charlotte, North Carolina, from July 1-5. Learn more at WeStutter.org/conference.

Some days, speaking can feel burdensome and heavy. You know exactly what you want to say, but getting it out doesn’t always happen as planned. That’s why so many people who stutter often turn to art as a means of self-expression.

Our latest blog post features Willemijn and Daniele Rossi and explores how art can become a space to release emotion, process experience, and share parts of yourself that words just sometimes can’t describe. And over time, creativity can even help reshape how we see ourselves.

Meet Haley Totherow, our Social Media Coordinator! 💜

Haley has been part of the NSA since 2019. What started as navigating the everyday realities of stuttering has grown into confident, visible advocacy. She’s an active member of our Women’s Connect group and has shared her perspective on panels about pronounced stuttering.

Through her platform, @‌StutterWithMe, Haley shares real speaking moments helping others feel seen, understood, and less alone. Outside of the NSA, you’ll find her baking, crafting, and collecting Jellycat plushies, small joys that reflect her creativity and personality.

We’re all about connecting people—on the dance floor at the banquet, with industry peers, or with folks who just get it.

Now, we invite you to connect with us on Facebook.

Whether you stutter, love someone who does, work with people who stutter, or simply want to learn more, this page is your spot for connection, education, advocacy, and community.

Follow along for updates on NSA events, virtual programs, resources, stories, chapter news, and ways to get involved.

The more people who find this space, the more people hear the message that matters most:

If you stutter, you are not alone.

Give the National Stuttering Association a follow—and invite someone who might need this community too.
