📲 Join ADVION as we celebrate Telehealth Awareness Week. We recognize the senior population our members serve where virtual care is far more than a convenience. It's often what makes care possible, bridging clinician shortages, reaching rural and underserved areas, and helping an already stretched workforce reach seniors where they live.

🏠 For many older adults, getting to an appointment can be the biggest barrier to care. Telehealth brings care to the patient while supporting continued treatment, enabling timely check-ins, and helping clinicians address concerns before they become hospitalizations.

🏛️ Congress extended Medicare's telehealth flexibilities through 2027. That's a good start, but it isn't enough. Providers can't build lasting programs on two-year deadlines, and seniors shouldn't lose access to their therapist every time a funding bill stalls. It's time to make these flexibilities permanent, including the ability of PTs, OTs, and SLPs to furnish telehealth under Medicare.

🚨Update from ADVION: HHS delayed its biggest HIPAA Security Rule update in over a decade; pushed from this year to July 2027.

The proposed rule would mandate encryption, multi-factor authentication, and annual pe*******on testing (currently just best practices). The delay follows nearly 5,000 public comments and pushback from 100+ health systems over cost and timeline concerns.

Meanwhile, a separate HIPAA Privacy Rule update, focused on care coordination and caregiver access, is still on track for around August.
Cybersecurity in healthcare remains a priority; the deadline just moved.

📣 CMS released the Physician Fee Schedule last night-- ADVION estimates impact below for therapy providers and a few highlights:

🔹ADVION estimates a 1.68% decrease in CPT code values overall from the CY 2026 Conversion Factor of $33.4009 using the NonQualifying APM update factor. The decrease is largely due to the loss of the 2.5% increase provided by Congress which only applies to 2026.

🔹ADVION analyzed the 10 most-billed therapy codes and we believe our members should see an overall increase of approximately 1.5%— a figure that reflects real-world billing patterns in the long term care sector. This is driven in part by high-volume therapy codes seeing gains. ADVION has been meeting with CMS and calling for the year to year decreases in RVU values in our codes to end. We are grateful to see values stabilize and even increase for key codes. If your estimate is different – get in touch and let’s talk!

🔹CMS reflected the AMA’s recommendation on splitting the SLP code 92507 into 10 codes. ADVION could not model these because we don’t have any historical utilization of these new codes.

🔹 CMS puts quite a bit of focus on the remote monitoring codes citing the OIG report. The push to is control utilization—for example a proposal to only treat established patients.

🎉 Includes a big win for physician and nurse practitioners treating nursing home patients—CMS proposes to fix a change it made last year to the reimbursement of codes. Reimbursement was different whether the patient was Part A or B even when the service was the same. Good for CMS to quickly address this!

The summer payment rules have begun...
🏠 Home health-- CMS proposes an increase of 2.4% ($420 million) for CY 2027. 📈Also proposing a temporary payment adjustment of -3.0% to continue recouping retrospective overpayments stemming from behavior changes associated with the PDGM implementation in CYs 2020–2025. CMS is not proposing an additional permanent adjustment for CY 2027, as it believes behavior changes in preliminary CY 2025 claims data may not be directly attributable to PDGM.
