DC AFWA The DC Chapter of AFWA has been active since the 1940s. Our members meet the third Tuesday of every month during September through June.

AFWA was formed in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. The first chapter was chartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. AFWA members work at all levels of the accounting and financial services professions—from individual practitioners to entry- and top-level positions in industry and government, and from juniors to partners in major accounting firms. Memb

ers include partners in national, regional, and local CPA firms; financial officers; controllers; academicians; financial analysts and data processing consultants; students and recent college graduates; and women returning to the work force. The DC Chapter was formed in 1950, and continues to be a strong chapter bringing together women across the accounting and finance fields. Members in our chapter learn from one another, network with one another, and give back to the community as a group. We meet regularly from September through June on the third Tuesday of the month.
