Tim Turnham

Tim Turnham Owner, Turnham Consulting These partnerships strengthen both entities and result in better outcomes for patients.

The majority of my career has been focused in the nonprofit health space, which has resulted in a keen understanding of how best to work in collaboration with patient advocacy groups (PAGs) and create successful partnerships with research-based pharmaceutical companies. I have worked in medical research laboratories, convened global groups, and led patient and caregiver symposia. For the past ten

years I have been the top executive at a national/international health care nonprofit organizations. Prior to that I spent a decade as the lead fundraising officer for other health related causes. The experience and expertise I have gained have helped to support finding mutual areas of interest for partnership that align with both PAGs and industry that are meaningful, productive and compliant. Whether it is planning strategy for an advisory board, helping launch a new patient advocacy program, or re-shaping an existing program, my goal is to maximize the insight and value that PAGs and industry can achieve through collaboration. My areas of expertise include:
• Creating advocacy-related briefings and programs at medical meetings, particularly ASCO.
• Working with industry on launch-related awareness campaigns involving celebrities and significant media engagement.
• Convening patient groups to provide input into REMS and other patient-focused material.
• Holding patient focus groups to elicit insights into treatment related gaps and challenges.
• Communicating complex medical developments in terms that are readily understood.
• Recruiting and training patients to engage in public policy, from testifying at FDA meetings to lobbying Congress for research funding. The quantifiable skills I bring to the table are measured in a proven track record of patient engagement around issues that are critical to both PAGs and industry. What drives the success is not quantifiable, but is critically important: my interactions with patients and caregivers are characterized by transparency, understanding, and compassion. Two principles, tested and proven over years of effort, define my approach:
• Align all interactions to support both PAG and industry goals and objectives
• Insure all interactions are transparent and compliant

“I am passionate about bringing corporate and nonprofit partners together to explore ways they can embrace these concepts in creative, mutually beneficial engagement.” Tim Turnham, Principal
