The curtain is closing on day one of registration. We thank you all for coming along with us on the fun week leading up to registration. Now the work begins! It takes a lot of hours and man power to make this boat float. So, here’s to strapping our work boots on and hitting the ground running. Exciting things are coming.

Seven days and seven facts.

The countdown is coming to an end. Tomorrow is the big day! Veterans, boaters, and volunteers please go to fishingforfreedom.us tomorrow to get registered for our 2026 event. If you have more question reach out or check the website where multiple contacts are available to help.

Fact 7: Prizes? Gifts? Awards? Oh yes! We got them! Nobody goes home empty handed. 1st place through third place receive plaques donated by our sponsor for each fishing category. And the largest fish in each category will receive a donated plaque also. Veterans give so much to each and every one of us, it’s our mission that when they leave our event they can feel our appreciation.

Seven days and seven facts. We are now two days away from registration for our 2026 Fishing for Freedom event opening.

Facts 6: Is this a fishing tournament? Yes, while the goal is to join together to share a day full of camaraderie on the lake with America’s real life heroes. It is still a tournament. And there are four categories in the tournament.
1. Bass
2. Crappie
3. Catfish
4. Trash Fish

Seven days and seven facts. We are now three days away from registration for our 2026 Fishing for Freedom event opening.

Facts 5: Is registration just for warriors? I want to volunteer how do I go about that? Or, I would liked to be paired with a warrior and volunteer as a boater.
Registration is the answer for all those questions. This gives us the best information to be able to pair our Veterans with the best boater for them, their needs, or fishing skills. You want to volunteer? Please do! Same as the boaters and warriors we ask that you register so we can put you in the best spot for your availability and ability.

Seven days and seven facts. We are now four days away from registration for our 2026 Fishing for Freedom event opening.

Poor service means missing yesterday’s post. So, let’s do two days worth of fun facts.

Fact 3: Let’s talk food. Dinner Saturday night, breakfast Sunday morning, and a barbecue lunch after the weigh ins Sunday will be provided.

Facts 4: How about lodging? Lodging for our warriors on Saturday and Sunday night will be provided. We will contact the warriors two weeks prior to the event with the lodging assignments.

Seven days and seven facts. We are six days away from registration for our 2026 fishing for freedom event opening.

Fact 2: Do I have to bring my own fishing equipment and tackle?
No, although you are welcome and encouraged to bring your own fishing tackle, volunteer boaters will have rods, reels, lures, and life vests for you to use during the tournament. All the warriors need to bring is a valid Missouri fishing license that you can obtain online, or any tackle shop throughout Missouri, a snack or sandwich for a while while you are on the lake, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing in case of inclement weather. The one-day fishing license will work and cost only $7. If you are a recovering wounded warrior, or a rehabilitating service member, no fishing license is required.
