Jacob Stanton and his dad, Air Force veteran Jim Stanton, decided to make a late trout fishing trip. We're definitely not fans of the summer heat, but if you're going to fish this time of year, there's no better place than the river where the water stays in the 50s. It makes even the hottest days much more comfortable, especially while the sun is low. Thanks to the narrow river and the shade from the overhanging trees, it can feel 20 degrees cooler than the surrounding area.
The fishing was definitely a grind. We marked plenty of fish on the graph, but convincing them to bite was another story. That's fishing sometimes—but it was still a great day on the water.
