We are adding a new focus here at Tribe of Esther – not doing away with the foundation, just enhancing what we’re building. Please read on.
Tribe of Esther Mission Statement:
To provide opportunities for genuine friendship and networking; to foster mutual respect and support between and among women of all races, backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses; to provide connections and resources to assist them in all areas of life with the ultimate goal of increasing each woman’s happiness, success, fulfillment and positive impact on the world around her.
I began this organization in 2019 with the vision of helping women to truly connect with each other. To enhance both their business and personal lives by reducing the competition and jealousy and increase the love and genuine connection that seem so hard to come by between us these days.
I am happy to announce that we are adding a special focus to our mission and I believe it is a very important one.
My daughter, who is now 15, became a teen mom this year. It was a development that was unexpected, unplanned and even unwanted at first. Her daughter, my granddaughter, is now two months old. Over the last year, we have experienced first hand the isolation, shame and contempt that so easily surrounds young women and the support systems who find themselves in this challenging situation.
During the most mentally, physically and spiritually challenging time of their young lives, many times, these young women lose every friend, every relationship, every support, outside of the very core of their immediate circle and sometimes they are left without even that. Their endeavors to make new friends are frought with fighting stereotypes and stigmas over which they have no control. Many of them fall into depression and despair that follows them their entire lives and feeds a vicious cycle.
We believe that no woman should be defined by any one choice or event in her life. That shame has no place in the vocabulary of a daughter of the MOST HIGH and that by finding a renewed sense of purpose, she can not only survive but THRIVE. We believe that these young ladies need and deserve hope, love, understanding, guidance, encouragement and resources as they navigate everything from developing parenting skills and domestic skills, to learning CPR, to continuing their education, finding gainful employment, obtaining quality childcare and maintaining a supportive, loving system or TRIBE of friends and family around them that helps them to know that they are not alone on this journey - and sometimes, most importantly, learning how to TUNE OUT all the negativity that they are bombarded with in our society.
If you or someone you know is a teen mom, please reach out, we would love to have you at our next meeting!
