Renard Carlos, Program and Outreach Officer with NPCF, recently completed the Leadership Fauquier program. Leadership Fauquier connects local leaders to one another personally and professionally to develop their leadership, increase awareness of issues and challenges facing our community, and network with one another. NPCF staff enjoyed a trip to the beautiful Rapidan Equine Sanctuary to learn more about this new organization and its leaders (and equines!). They are committed to compassionate care, responsible stewardship, and building meaningful connectoins between all equines (horses, donkeys, mules, and ponies), people, and the community. We were impressed with the clean faciilties and genuine care and stewardship for the animals and the land. It was delightful to meet several of the resident animals, including Frank and Beans who were happy to smile for the camera!

It was a busy spring! In the midst of our Give Local Piedmont excitement, NPCF staff had the honor of visiting Fauquier Family Shelter 's Vint Hill Transitional Housing. While there, we had the opportunity to tour a home awaiting renovation and a recently renovated home, giving us a perfect before and after snapshot of the great work going on. We were impressed with the peaceful surroundings and programming providing single moms and their children a safe place to prepare for the next step in their journey.
