Though it’s hard on a rescue to have long term foster kitties, working with timids can be so rewarding! Most often when they get the attention and time they need to feel safe, they can be extraordinary!

The maths teens are looking for a patient, loving forever home. They are a great choice for people with a quiet household, who want to make a difference for an individual cat or bonded teens like these.

Your greatest gift to a timid like them is your patience and understanding and respect for what they need.

The rewards make your spirit soar!

Miss Fibonacci purred!!!

I'm so excited! It only took approximately 101 days of trying but she PURRED when I pet her this morning!! She has a quiet, soft purr - beautiful.

She's acting like it's no big deal, of course she purrs. ❤️

Have you ever wanted a shadow who truly cares about your well-being (though I suspect her concern this morning is more that she knows I’ll have to get up to get more coffee and that means disturbing her)? Meet Olivia, our beautiful 9 month old Tiger Teen! While tiny kittens can be a blur of chaotic energy, teen cats like Olivia are the absolute sweet spot of the rescue world. She has outgrown the unpredictable “clumsy baby” phase and settled into a truly remarkable, loving personality.

Olivia’s Standout Superpower:
She is a deeply intuitive soul. Keeping a close eye on me while I’m recovering from back surgery, Olivia takes her job as chief caretaker very seriously. She insists on staying close by, acting as a watchful little guardian and keeping me company through the healing process. If you are having a down day, Olivia will be the first to curl up nearby to remind you that you aren’t alone.

The Foster Home Advantage:
Because we are a 100% foster-based rescue, Olivia hasn’t spent her youth stressed out in a shelter cage. She is fully “home-tested!” We already know she loves human company, respects a home routine, and is looking for a dedicated partner to share her life with.

Adoption Details: the kittens are spayed/neutered, received age appropriate vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV & FIV and microchipped. Because we prioritize their lifelong safety, our adoption process requires a live virtual safety walkthrough after our verifications and vet references. If you are an open-book adopter ready to welcome these precious kittens into your heart, apply to adopt either fabulous pair today!

More about Spirit Cats:

A Spirit Cat is an excellent companion for a resident cat, but are very shy with people. Though under the right circumstances, they can be wonderful pets.

They are a great choice for people with a quiet household, who want to make a difference for an individual cat. Your greatest gift to a Spirit Cat is your patience and understanding and respect for what they need. The rewards make your spirit soar!

What to expect with a Spirit Cat
- They are great with other cats! They are used to living with other cats, bond easily with other cats, get and give comfort to other cats.
- They live in your home, but are rarely seen - visitors will probably never see them. They are cats who live with you, and who may sometimes grant you the opportunity to touch them. Or, they may not. They may never be comforted by your touch, though over time, with patience and care, one day often something switches and they find you are their true person. Still don’t expect them to magically turn around into a social house cat with everyone else. Though, they may choose to hang out near you, or sleep on the bed with you at night.
- They are a fine choice for situations where you don’t have a lot of time to devote to a pet - most of these kitties do not need or want much attention from people. They will not be a good choice for busy homes, including those with children.
- These timid cats are not feral, they are shy for a variety of reasons but are comforted by being indoors. Still what you see is what they will be like for a long time, maybe always. Some will change more than others, but be prepared for what you see now.

Look who came down to hang out with us in the living room… our little timids from Schitt’s Creek, Johnny Rose and Roland Schitt.

These two were too young to TNR when the others from that effort were, and they like being pet but won’t come for it. They love other animals and would make great companion kitties for a lonely cat or gentle dog. So for now we’re still letting them get used to being a part of an active home, so proud of them. Each day they come down, but now they actively seeking to hang out where we are. Still what you see is what they will be like for a long time, maybe always.

Working with former dumped cats means taking some time to assess, to find out what’s best for them. These timid cats are not feral, they are shy for a variety of reasons but are comforted by being indoors. Still don’t expect them to magically turn around into a social house cat with everyone else. Though, they may choose to hang out near you, or sleep on the bed with you at night. Some will change more than others, and the change feels so magical, but be prepared for what you see now.

Tears … the good kind today 💛

After a week of no kitten sightings, 2 of the 3 missing kittens were seen, trapped, and are now with mama Francine and sister in foster care. All 3 were nursing when foster mom Christina checked in. Mama Francine was SO happy.

We still don’t know their story … were they taken and dumped back outside when they weren’t instantly friendly? Did they just learn to hide REALLY well? Curry was brought back by a caring man when he learned mama was trapped … we hope the same for the last little one if someone took him. He’s still young … is better off with mom right now, definitely needs deworming like Curry had, vaccines, and neuter. That’s what we’ll do for all of them.

This rescue was one of those “most everyone trying to do the right thing but it got messy” situations. Mama cats go back into heat while weaning … so when kittens hadn’t been seen in a while, the business owners had trapped mom to get her fixed before the cycle started again. They had planned to use her meows to call kittens if they were still nearby, but nothing worked.

And word got out about the exact location (which you never want to post publicly) … and after business owners picked up their traps at dark, because traps should NEVER be left unmonitored (NOTE: we don’t mean hover over them, you won’t catch that way, but have some way to check on them), a number of people had flooded the parking lot and someone left an uncovered trap overnight. Business owners arrived to a skunk inside. We were so afraid the kittens were long gone.

So today we sigh in relief. Two more babies are safe, even though one is still missing. Francine is so friendly and now doesn’t have to worry about trying to protect them from the dangers of outside anymore. And the kittens get to stay with a little longer while we get everyone healthy and fixed and vaccinated.

Thanks to Waterbury Woof Pack CT, the business and workers who called to say the other two were there, and their foster mom who drove out immediately to get them.

This is why trap safety matters. This is why spay/neuter matters. This is rescue. And rescue takes a village.

I'm not here to fit in, I stand out!

Hi, I’m Suntiger Spider 🕷️
Born March 4th, which makes me a tiny spring Pisces.
Emotional? Yes. Dramatic? Also yes.

I’m not orange like my name — I’m solid black. A little void baby. But check my feet: I’ve got tarantula toes. White tips on black paws. But the rescue thought naming me tarantula was going to turn people off, why in the world????
Nature’s goth manicure. Spinning webs is for amateurs. I am the art.

They say I had “single kitten syndrome.”
As I was on my own for quite a while when i was younger so my siblings weren’t around to teach me manners, so I invented my own:
Step 1: Kiss your face like you’re the best thing ever.
Step 2: Bite your lip like you really deserved it.
It’s called love. Look it up.

My resume:
- Professional shoulder cat. Head cat. Your personal hat.
- Glasses inspector — I will swat-test them for safety. Daily.
- Purr machine with no off switch. Even mid-crimes.
- Born in March, so I came in like a lion and I’m staying that way
- Tarantula toes certified for maximum toe-bean booping

What I need:
A human who laughs when I’m a terror.
Someone who gets that kisses + teeth = my love language.
Or better? A cat buddy to teach me that humans aren’t chew toys. I'm even good with dogs, I mean they may not want me to play with their tails but I love it. Probably best to keep me from young children though I'd find them tasty.
I’m small, but my purrsonality needs its own zip code.

Adopt me and I’ll cling to you like webbing.
I’m not here to catch flies. I’m here to catch your whole heart. Bring band-aids. Bring snacks.
Mostly bring your shoulder — it’s mine now.

*** As a general rule, we recommend that young kittens only go in pairs or to households that already have another pet, Suntiger is a good example of why. Young kittens on their own, no matter how much attention they get from humans, usually get bored and tend to be more destructive. They need another animal to help socialize them (to learn how to appropriately wrestle, boundaries, etc). Most times having another cat is the best, though some may be okay with a gentle dog.
