Team Agriculture Georgia and the Georgia Heirs Property Law Center are partnering to host a half-day educational symposium for new and beginning farmers, ranchers, and landowners. This free event will feature informational sessions on USDA FSA and NRCS programs, renewable energy initiatives for rural areas, land access, marketing, heirs property resolution, estate planning, and more.

Thanks to generous sponsorship by the USDA Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement, there is no cost to attend. The symposium will take place on March 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. Lunch will be provided. Attendees should register in advance.

These communities have been hit hard by factory shutdowns during the pandemic, leading to ongoing struggles.

Just a few Emergency Tips During this Rainy Seasons:
Make an Emergency Kit
An emergency kit can come in handy if your home were to lose power for multiple days or if an evacuation is needed. A kit can be assembled by placing loose items in plastic bags and then putting them inside a duffel bag or plastic bin. If the kit becomes too big to manage, make two kits that are easy to carry.

• Battery-powered radio
• Flashlight
• First aid kit
• Batteries
• Whistle to call for help
• Face mask

• Pliers or wrench to turn off utilities

• Any personal items you need such as medicine
