The 3rd Annual Say Their Name Relay is complete. First and foremost thank you to all of the participants. This event is for you. It is not normal to know more than one person who has gone missing or been murdered, but it is as common as anything on the Rez/in our community. When we planned this first relay, we wanted to create something that would inspire healing in a healthy way for our community. Nothing does that more than “leaving it all on the floor,” in this case, the course.

It is just sad to see how many people will turn out for this event because they have been so strongly impacted but it is equally beautiful to see families turn out in support of each other.

The relay is not possible without volunteers. Thank you Papalaxsimisha staff for all of your prep work on the relay and for taking this important issue on in your programming! Thank you Fire Chief Scott Spaulding for personally showing up to help keep everyone safe every year! Thank you Warm Springs Victims of Crime Team, Emily/WSCAT for your dedication all day to collect all of the gear. Thank you Titus & T-Mac (Community Center) for taking care of the race times. Thank you Destry & Jason (Twisted Teepee) for your hard work on the meal. Thank you Daisy, Anona, Vivian & Kota for all of the work you put in for today! Thank you Jess Stevens for the beautiful song to get us started and Rene Sohappy for the prayer for all.

Thank you sponsors, Native Aspirations, Indian Head Casino, Papalaxsimisha, Warm Springs Composite, Warm Springs Community Action Team, the Ronai-Durning family & Dr. Marcel Tam! Kah-Nee-Ta Resort, Melinda Billy, Mona Baez, Wanda Suppah, Skyn Style for raffle prizes!

We know the pain never goes away, but we hope everyone had a positive, healing day.

We appreciate any feedback to help us make this event better.

Sharing again, the names of our community's relatives who are no longer with us or are still missing. These are names shared with us by their loved ones, as well as some new names. Some cases are still unresolved, may they receive justice some day, and may the creator be with their loved ones who still seek answers and remain a voice for their loved one ❤️

We ask our communities near and far to take action by doing education, awareness, and prevention work in your community, protect yourself and eachother, show up to the searches to assist as best you can, advocate and be a voice in spaces and at tables and to leaders in your community and a state/federal levels for our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives, show up to the protests, support your local grass roots groups who walk this path, and honor, remember and say the names of our Missing and Murdered Indigenous relatives.

If you know something, say something.
