Update at 8:10 pm: All the pups have been rescued! They are safe & sound in various places. We’ll update more tomorrow!

Update at 4:13 pm: A volunteer was able to get 2 of them. A family member is going back up to try and get the other 4.

Update at 3:45 pm: One volunteer was not able to get the dogs as they were all riled up. A different volunteer has gone up there but no word yet. Cell services is tough though.

Current need (in case they do get the dogs):

1. Somewhere for them to stay tonight. Six dogs, 3 large, 2 medium and 1 small. No other information about the dogs.

2. Perhaps someone else to go up there, since I've not heard back from the other volunteers that went up there.

Do not just head up there. DM me here first and I'll give you the address and any updates.

This is a 911 call for help from our Umatilla community. There are six dogs at a property near Bingham Road & Meacham Creek Road. Five outside and 1 inside. We need someone to go get them. This is a level three evacuation and no owners are on property. If you are able to get the dogs we have temporary placement for them. DM here if you are near and can go get them now.

Another day, another save! Here’s Louie being the goodest boy! 🐾

We coordinated the transport of 9 more dogs to our rescue partners, Oregon Humane Society & Blue Mountain Humane Society.

Right now our hearts are with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (and all the people in this region), one of the nations we serve, as the Hagen Fire burns nearby. It’s grown to over 5,000 acres and remains at 0% containment, prompting the state to mobilize additional resources to help fight it. The smoke is heavy across the region right now, and evacuation orders remain in place.

Evacuating is hard enough on its own — it’s even harder, and sometimes seemingly impossible, when you’ve got pets to think about. We’re with you, CTUIR.💙

With the Hagen Fire raging across nearly 3,800 acres and still 0% contained, families on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation are being forced to evacuate — and one family had to leave without their 8 puppies. With the help of the amazing Kendyl Dejong, animal control for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, we stepped in to pick them up and get them safely to Safe Haven Humane Society — one of our incredible Indigenous Ally partners.

This is exactly why partnerships matter. When families are in crisis, it’s all hands on deck.

🐾 Big day on the Grand Ronde Reservation!

We were honored to partner with the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Tribal Health Department to bring free spay/neuter services to the community — and together we helped 61 animals in a single day! 🎉

Events like these make a real difference — for pets, for families, and for the whole community. A huge thank you to the Tribal Health Department and the Grand Ronde Fire Department for making this collaboration possible, and to every pet owner who brought their animals in. You’re helping build a healthier, happier community one pet at a time. 🐶🐱

One year ago First Nations Veterinary visited The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. Together, with the tribal heath and fire departments, we put a plan in motion to hold a high volume spay/neuter clinic for this community. Since then, we’ve worked out the logistics, raised the money, signed 100 pets up (with 88 on the waitlist), coordinated 30 volunteers from five states, and filled up both gas tanks on the rig. We’re ready to put the peddle to the metal this weekend & do what we do for this community. Wish us luck!
