The Fool's Open

The Fool's Open Charity Golf Tournament is in support of the Mary Cariola Children's Center. Foolsopen.com

This premier Charity event, where the first place "winners" are shamed and embarrassed for trying hard enough that they actually "won" the Fools, is not your normal Charity Golf Tournament. In 1977, John Odenbach and Tim Nally invited many of their fellow McQuaid alumni to a fun golf outing for their 10-year reunion at the newly founded Shadow Lake Golf and Racquet Club. Given the names on the in

vite list, they felt the appropriate name for the Tournament should be: "The Fool's Open". For 28 years the tradition lived on but as they realized how old and lousy they had become, the Fool's was sadly suspended. In 2008, a new generation of Fools were thirsting to carry on the legendary tournament. The sons of John and Tim helped bring back The Fool's Open and the great cause that it supported. Now as we head into the 10th year of the resurrection, we look to grow the event so that we can expand our donations to Mary Cariola!
