As summer winds down, the lessons learned through sports don’t disappear. Teamwork, resilience, confidence, focus, and perseverance are skills young athletes can carry from the field and court right into the classroom.

Did you know? Harvard sponsors 42 varsity teams, while Stanford sponsors 36 varsity sports — a great reminder that academics and athletics can thrive together.

🏀☀️ July Basketball Camp #2 in Arlington!

In partnership with Arlington Recreation, our athletes spent the week developing their basketball skills through shooting, passing, ball handling, defense, competitions, team challenges, and plenty of game action.

We loved watching our players improve throughout the week — but even better was seeing the confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, friendships, and excitement for basketball that developed along the way.

A huge THANK YOU to all of our campers, families, and coaches for making another July basketball camp in Arlington such a memorable one.

🏀🏈⚽🏃 Four sports. One awesome week!

That’s a wrap on another incredible Sidekick Sports Academy All-Sports Camp in partnership with Arlington Recreation!

Our campers spent the week learning, playing, and competing across basketball, flag football, futsal (soccer), and track & field. Each sport brought something different — from shooting and passing to catching, scoring goals, running, jumping, racing, and competing as a team.

But All-Sports Camp is about more than learning the games. We loved watching our athletes build confidence, practice good sportsmanship, make new friends, discover new interests, and simply enjoy being active.

Thank you to all of our families for another tremendous week of summer camp in Arlington! We can’t wait to see everyone again at another Sidekick program soon. 💙

🎨🏀 What an amazing week at Hoops Camp!

Thank you to all of our incredible campers and families for making another week with Sidekick Sports Academy and Arlington, MA Recreation so memorable!

Each day was filled with creative art projects, basketball skill development, exciting games, team competitions, and plenty of smiles. Watching our campers grow in confidence, improve their skills, encourage one another, and make new friendships is what makes these weeks so special.

What an incredible week at our Track & Field Camp in Arlington! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

From explosive sprints and exciting relays to hurdles, long jump, distance races, throwing events, and fun team competitions, our athletes gave outstanding effort every single day.

Even more impressive than the athletic performances was the sportsmanship. We watched campers encourage teammates, celebrate each other's successes, and gain confidence with every event.

Thank you to all of our amazing families for trusting us with your children and to our outstanding coaching staff for creating such a positive, energetic environment.

These are the weeks we look forward to all year.

We hope everyone had as much fun as we did — and we can't wait to see you again at a future Sidekick Sports Academy program!

⚽ The heart of summer is here!

July is when childhood memories are made. From neighborhood pickup games to watching the world's biggest sporting events, children are inspired to get outside, stay active, and play. This past weekend's World Cup Final between Lionel Messi and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal was a reminder that every superstar's journey began with a ball, a dream, and a place to play.

At Sidekick Sports Academy, we're proud to provide that place. Every camp is an opportunity for young athletes to build confidence, develop new skills, make lasting friendships, and discover a lifelong love of sports.

Some friendships shape the course of your life.

Last week, I had the chance to spend time in Baltimore with my longtime friend and Sidekick Sports Academy co-founder, Jesse Vann. It’s amazing to think that 14 years ago we launched Sidekick “Soccer” Academy, never imagining where the journey would take us.

One fun piece of Sidekick history that many people don’t know: our signature orange, black, white, and hexagon branding was inspired by Jesse’s lifelong love of Wolverhampton Wanderers. As a dual English-American citizen, he brought a unique passion for the game that became woven into Sidekick’s identity.

Today, Jesse is focused on his family and on investing in his hometown through Vann Development, where he owns and develops residential and commercial real estate throughout Baltimore. He’s also remained a loyal Orioles fan through every season—a true definition of “through thick and thin.”

This photo was taken from his place, The Birdhouse, across the street from Camden Yards, one of baseball’s great ballparks. Spending time reflecting on where we’ve been, what we’ve built, and the friendships that have lasted along the way was a real gift.

Thank you, Jesse, for 14 years of friendship, ideas, encouragement, and believing that sports can change lives.

Nearly 100 young athletes joined us this spring for our Saturday Track & Field Clinics in partnership with Arlington, MA Recreation — and these photos capture just a few of the moments that made the season so special.

Track & field is one of the best foundations for youth athletic development. Running, jumping, throwing, and hurdling help children build speed, coordination, balance, confidence, resilience, and teamwork — skills that benefit every sport and everyday life.

While these photos are from our spring clinics, we’re excited that our 2026 Summer Track & Field Camp is currently underway!

Thank you to all of our amazing Needham Basketball families for making our June Basketball Camp an incredible way to kick off the summer! 🏀

In partnership with Needham Recreation, we had a fantastic week filled with skill development, teamwork, confidence building, and plenty of fun. It was exciting to watch every player improve throughout the week while encouraging one another on and off the court.
