15 Volunteer Mentors Needed for Boston Youth!

SCI is looking for 15 more adult volunteers passionate about sharing skills with young leaders for the 2026 SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest! SCI will pair you up with another volunteer as Pitch Coaches to mentor a youth team looking to win up to $2,000 to implement a community project. Bilingual Spanish-speaking volunteers and volunteers who live or work in Boston are highly needed! Apply today at bit.ly/SCI-volunteer.

The SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest is a free program that empowers young leaders through two months of weekly coaching sessions to develop, pitch, and implement social impact projects in their communities by providing youth in Greater Boston with

Up to $2,000 in Grant Awards & Mentorship to implement community project idea

Development of Career Skills such as public speaking, project management and team collaboration

Bridging Community Connections to like-minded peers & professionals across the region that helps grow their network

Coaching sessions begin in February 2026. Social Capital Inc. has a preference for Pitch Coaches with in-person availability, as there are limited volunteer spots for virtual options.

The 2026 SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest is supported by Boston Children’s Hospital, State Street, M & T Bank, Winning Home Inc., and a state budget line item supported by Senator Cindy Friedman. The Cummings Foundation provides major support for all SCI programming.

GoFresh is a research study program providing 12 weeks of free food!

The Groceries For Black Residents of Boston to Stop Hypertension (GoFresh) study is a research program to see if healthy groceries lower blood pressure in Black Adults. GoFresh is looking for participants who are 18 or older, identify as Black or African American and live in Roxbury, Dorchester, Chelsea, Hyde Park, Mattapan, Revere, Brighton and Winthrop. Half of the Study participants will receive free weekly groceries ordered online and delivered to their home, assisted by a dietician; and the other half of the study participants will receive $500 every 4 weeks for 12 weeks.
