Growing up, one of my childhood neighbors was an extremely picky eater. For years, he would only eat a handful of foods. Mostly plain pasta, fries, and chicken nuggets... His parents were constantly stressed trying to get him to try anything new. Family dinners, birthday parties, even school lunches would turn into a struggle.
Over time, though, things slowly changed. His parents stopped making meals feel like a fight and started introducing new foods in low-pressure ways, like letting him help cook or just keeping different foods on the table without forcing him to eat them. Little by little, he became more comfortable trying things he used to refuse completely.
By the time we were older, the difference was honestly huge. He went from being terrified of trying new foods to actually enjoying restaurants and eating a much wider variety of meals. Seeing that transformation firsthand really showed me how much patience and consistency can matter with picky eating. ❤️
