The Blue Raider Foundation's Local Roots, Lasting Impact Community Grant is back for Year 2!

Do you have an idea that could make Walnut and the surrounding community an even better place to live? We'd love to hear it!

Last year, we launched this grant program to help support projects that leave a lasting impact on our community, and we're excited to see what new ideas this year's applicants bring forward.

📅 Application Deadline: September 1, 2026

🏆 Grant recipient(s) will be announced at Fall Fest on October 3, 2026.

Whether it's a beautification project, community improvement, youth initiative, recreation, or another idea that benefits our area, we encourage you to apply.

Grant info is attached to this post, and application can either be picked up at COUNTRY office in town or emailed to you if you email us at the address in the details

Together, we're putting down Local Roots and creating a Lasting Impact.

🚴🌳 A New Connection for Our Community! 🌳🚶

We're excited to announce the completion of the newest phase of the Walnut Hike & Bike Trail, connecting the edge of Walnut to the Ross Preserve!

A huge thank you to McDonald Trucking & Paving for their excellent work in making this project a reality. Their efforts have helped create a much safer route for anyone walking, hiking, or biking to the preserve, eliminating the need to travel along the highway.

This project is another step toward making our community more connected, accessible, and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike. We hope you'll get out and enjoy the new trail!

Stay tuned for more exciting Blue Raider Foundation projects in the months ahead! We're also thrilled to announce that Local Roots, Lasting Impact will be returning this year with up to $10,000 in community grants available to support projects that make Walnut an even better place to live.
