🚐September is National Transit Month!🚐

What would you do if you didn't have access to reliable transportation? How would your day change if you did not have access to a personal vehicle, or were unable to drive yourself?

For people with disabilities, seniors, young children, and people who can’t afford a personal vehicle or gas — this is their reality.

One week this September, we challenge you to walk a mile in those shoes.

Get around however you like - but the challenge is to not drive yourself in a car. Whether you choose to walk or bike, take public transportation like Tri-CAP, or carpool with a coworker - These are all viable options! If you do drive, you haven't failed the challenge; instead, reflect on why you ended up driving, and what you would have done if that option wasn't available.

Keep a journal of the transportation methods you take. What made you decide to use them? How did the rest of your day have to change in order to make this transportation viable? What challenges did you face? Are there any adjustments to your schedule that you'd like to keep, such as biking to work once a week?

This challenge isn't meant to be a simulation or test of how you find alternatives, but a chance to consider others who have challenges accessing reliable transportation. The primary goal is to build understanding and empathy as a result!

We hope you'll consider participating, and tell us about your experience in the comments below!
