For those coming to our Obon Celebration this weekend, you may feel something is missing. The large Banyan tree that was in front of our parking lot was taken down by the city a few weekends ago. The City will be stripping and laying new asphalt for a new parking lot and also repair the walkway in front of the Okada building. The roots from tree have damaged both the parking lot and the walkway so they need to cut the roots which would mean the tree would be compromised. Though we miss the shade the tree provided, it opens up new opportunities for us to reenvision the area and make the parking lot and walkway safer for our visitors, staff and volunteers to use.
