Hawaii's Plantation Village will be participating in the upcoming Remembrance Awakened: Speaker Series presented by National Parks Service Honouliuli National Historic Site. Our very own Clem Bautista, HPV Board Secretary and long time volunteer archivist will share how Hawaii's Plantation Village remembers and preserves immigrant history in Hawaii. For more information and to register, please see the attached post.

As a part of Honouliuli National Historic Site's 80 Years of Closure Commemoration, they are partnering with Pacific Historic Parks to bring a new, free, virtual speaker series to the community. Titled "Remembrance Awakened", this speaker series will focus on remembrance through the lenses of art, architecture, institutions, and technology. By examining remembrance through these undervalued lenses, we can expand what we understand about the incarceration story by learning how far its impacts spread.

August's Remembrance Awakened speakers will be Alphie Garcia, the Information Resources and Collection Management Librarian at the University of Hawaii - West Oahu, Devynn Kochi, Archives Resource Manager of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i, and Clement Bautista, a longtime volunteer at Hawaii's Plantation Village

This is a free, virtual event. Registration is required to attend.

EVENT DETAILS:
August 18, 5:30-6:30pm HST
