This week our homestead association will focus on honoring our Prince, Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole as we approach his birthday on March 26.

This is the perfect quote to showcase his love for our people. His work to create Hawaiian homesteads was an effort to rehabilitate his people, our people! It was his vision that if Hawaiians could be returned to the 'aina, that we could secure our identity as kanaka! Let us remember his life's legacy and find a way to honor him this week on a personal level. Let his name become a household name that we remember and are grateful for. Without him, we would not have our homestead! Mahalo nui e ke ali'i maka'ainana!

Kuhio's focus was returning the kanaka to the land with the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act. His focus was perpetuating the Hawaiian culture with the Hawaiian Civics Clubs.
This quote is still true today..conditions today are still challenging for kanaka, so what can you and I do to make a change!
