Today Wagner celebrated its 125th Labor Day celebration. Today was one of the main events of the 3 days event, the parade. The theme of the parade was Red, White and Retro. We decided to change it just a bit to Red, White & Renember in honor of those nembers and Veterans we have lost. It was a beautiful cool day and the Wagner Amerucan Legion and Wagner American Legion Auxiliary float proudly had State Legion Commander Kevin Hemple and State Auxiliary President Susie Learing join them on their float. We threw out candy; red, white and blue I ❤️ USA duckies, red, white and blue gnomes, bracelets, etc. to the crowds. It was a great time.

The Wagner American Legion Auxiliary is sad to share that we have recently lost a long-time member, Annamae Costello. We were honored to be asked to serve the luncheon after her services by the family. Though I never had the privilege to know Annamae as a Auxiliary member, her legacy lives on through her service to the Wagner American Legion Auxiliary. Her dedication and service will continue to serve as a model for future generations. She lived her life in the spirit of the Auxiliary's motto- "Service, Not Self". For 30+ years she could be found at the Wagner American Legion Hall cooking for Bingo or if the Auxiliary had an activity, Annamae was always there willing to help. She will be remembered as punny, generous and extremely hard-working. She will be greatly missed by her family, Auxiliary family and the Wagner community.

What a fantastic evening! The Wagner, SD community celebrated National Night Out with a Patriotic Painting Party. Community members of all ages were invited to come to the Wagner American Legion Hall for this free event from 5 pm - 7 pm. We served free walking tacos and desserts and the opportunity to paint a Patriotic picture or two. We had about 35+ community members come out to eat and or paint. We have some amazing artists and some phenomenally creative individuals who see patriotism in a truly unique way. We partnered with the Wagner Chamber of Commerce and Wagner American Legion to make this a wonderfully successful event. People seemed to enjoy it and I think it could very easily become an annual event. During the evening we also were proud to be able to honor two families with blue star banners and recognize them and the support they are giving their children in their military endeavors. I have to taje a moment to recognize my fellow Auxiliary members whom I could not have done this event without. These ladies have shown me unwavering support and showed up for me to help bring my sometimes over ambitious and off the wall ideas and dreams to fruition. Thank you to all my Auxiliary ladies.

Hello Ladies...

This is the flyer for our upcoming event, Celebrating National Night Out, with a hopefully fun and well attended event to happen on August 5th! Please share the flyer. There will be ads in next week's papers. If youd like to help serve walking tacos or bring a dessert that would be great. If not at least come out and paint a picture or at least share a meal with other community members. Bring your families

The Wagner Chamber of Commerce geld a Farm, Home, Garden and Sports show on March 27th. We were lucky enough to be donated a booth at the event. We were able to give out membership information, give out door prizes, offer poppies and enjoy interacting with local and area community members. It was a very successful day getting our organization and information out to the public and building connections. Barb Kucera, Shelby Mach and I had a lot of fun together and look forward to next year.

At the District 8 Spring meeting held in Tabor on March 30th the District Member of the Year was announced. The winner was Wagner's very own Barbara Kucera. It was a very well deserved honor and we as a unit are very proud of her! Congratulations Barb!

I can't say enough about these two ladies, Dolores Kotab and Margie Stone. The time, effort and hard work that they poured into co-chairing this year's soup and sandwich fundraiser ( which included Margie Stone's famous potato soup) is insurmountable. The changes that they implemented to make this year's event so smooth and successful will continue in future year's. Thank you ladies for all your hard work and dedication!

On Thursday, April 3rd, the Wagner American Legion Auxiliary held their annual soup and sandwich luncheon with bake sale and raffle drawings. It was a huge success with delicious food, community outpouring and generosity and a wonderful community gathering where people could come together and enjoy a meal together. We couldn't be more proud and thankful to live in a community that is very generous and supports our organization in supporting Veterans and their families.
