Order of the Eastern Star The degrees of the Order of the Eastern Star teach lessons of fidelity, constancy, loyalty, faith and love.

The Order of the Eastern Star is a Masonic-related fraternity of women and men dedicated to charity, truth and loving kindness. Although not a part of the Masonic fraternity, membership is based on a Masonic affiliation or relationship, a belief in God, and a desire to acquire additional knowledge and for self improvement. These degrees are presented in a beautiful ritualistic ceremony designed to not only teach the lessons, but also to provide insight for future study and understanding. Local Eastern Star Chapters select their own charities and places of service in their own communities. Some statewide projects include scholarships for ministerial students, other general scholarships for youth, and supporting a home for aged members. Each year special charities are selected for that year's emphasis and might include volunteer programs in elementary schools or volunteers in literacy programs and specific community outreach. Eastern Star proudly support young women's organizations such as Rainbow for Girls and Job's Daughters. Many Chapters actively support DeMolay for Boys. The Eastern Star is also a social organization with frequent formal events and ceremonies. Being a member is a wonderful and a fulfilling way of life. Please ask an Eastern Star to tell you more about it!...

Medina Chapter had a wonderful time at the District 4 “Meet the Deputy” and we are so excited to have Brenda Stohl as our Deputy Grand Matron! We tested our knowledge with “Are You Wiser Than an Owl?” and our District Charities Director, Maxine Swaisgood, also shared some of the fun charity projects ahead. Our district also received another Grand Representative commission. Shirley Bixbey of Ashland Chapter was asked to be the Grand Representative of New Hampshire in Ohio - congratulations Shirley!! A delicious lasagna dinner with garlic bread, salad, and dessert was served by Shreve Chapter. Looking forward to an awesome year!

🌟 What a wonderful 2026 Grand Chapter Session for Medina Chapter! 🌟

We had such an amazing few days filled with friendship, fun, ritual, celebrations, and so many special memories!

Thursday started us off with Ritual Competition, and Medina Chapter certainly made us proud! ❤️

🏆 Andrew Holland — 1st Place, Associate Patron
🏆 June Calderhead — 1st Place, Installing Officer
🏆 Katharine Andrews — 1st Place, Associate Conductress
🥈 Gwen Baus — 2nd Place, Martha
🥉 Katharine Andrews — 3rd Place, Adah

Friday brought the opening of Grand Session, where our Associate Grand Matron Amy Young and her husband, John, were introduced, and Katharine was presented as a Grand Representative.

Saturday was an especially exciting day as Amy Young was elected Worthy Grand Matron for 2027, alongside Dennis Evans, Worthy Grand Patron for 2027! ❤️💙 We also enjoyed a lovely Grand Banquet and the Grand Representatives Luncheon, where Katharine had the honor of giving her farewell speech as Head Grand Representative.

Medina Chapter also received a Gold Chapter Excellence award, and the Excellence in Community award. Nice work, Medina!!

Then came Sunday and a day we will never forget! 🐦❤️💙

The installation drill was beautiful, fun, and full of personality as we celebrated “Feather Your Nest with Friends”. Our district and friends from across the state made it such a memorable celebration.

Amy and Dennis were officially installed as our 2027 Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron, and Katharine was introduced as Grand Esther for 2027! ⭐

We finished the weekend with a wonderful Installation Banquet surrounded by friends who truly feel like family.

Medina Chapter had an incredible time at Grand Chapter this year. We made memories, celebrated accomplishments, laughed a lot, and enjoyed every minute together. Now we are happy to be home, but we cannot wait to “Feather Our Nest with Friends”as we travel throughout Ohio in 2027! 🐦❤️💙⭐

What a wonderful beginning to an exciting year ahead!
