Recently our Pearls had the opportunity to learn more about Waco’s rich Hispanic history with Dr. Mito Espinoza (Mito Diaz-Espinoza, Ph.D.), President of the Hispanic Chamber Of Commerce! Thank you, Dr. Espinoza, for sharing your knowledge, walking us through the South Waco Recreation Center mural, and teaching our girls some amazing facts about our community. We’re so grateful we could provide this experience for our Pearls with your help!
Our evening was made even sweeter thanks to two local small businesses that treated our girls to some delicious refreshments! A special thank you to Edith Cortes for the refreshing aguas frescas and Rositas Honduran Restaurant for the tasty plantains! Be sure to show these local businesses some love and support for our Pearls!

Our Senior Pearls recently met with our Senior Support Advisor, Vanessia, for intentional time together. They had the opportunity to discuss their academic goals, plans for the year, and catching up with one another. We wrapped up the evening with games and dinner!

Earlier this month, our Pearls did what they love most, serve! Over half of our cohort joined Art Center Waco at the Waco Farmers Market, where they spent time creating art projects with the little ones who stopped by our booth.

Cohort two is officially off to a GREAT start! We were thrilled to welcome our pearls to our second annual Pearl Retreat! Our Retreats are intentionally designed to create a space for our girls to learn and get to know one another as they kick off a new year within the organization and at their schools. We hope our Pearls leave the retreat feeling empowered and prepared!

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our very first Prosecco for Pearls! The night could not have been any better! Because of your support, we’re able to continue our Pearl of Excellence Scholarship this spring and free programming for our 40 Pearls! Thank you for celebrating with us and making our first fundraiser so special. We hope you had as much fun as we did, see you next year for round two! 🍷
