We are so proud of the Shipp Belting team for donating their time and resources to be a part of the solution to support Waco Masks Seamstress for Covid in an effort to help those on the front lines. To date, over 10,000 masks have been produced to be given to the medical related personnel and or patients. This example of serving others is something the Ogden Family has used to make the foundation of the Shipp Belting Company. Thank you Alice and Greg Ogden for leading the way! “Don’t just do work and business with your employees and customers; do life with each other.”

Matea Perales immigrated to Waco in 1979. She has worked as a seamstress at numerous facilities, including Big J, Waco Apparel, Reebok, Banana Scrubs, Balfour, and Allrec Awards for over a span of more than 40 years in Waco.
As the Coronavirus-COVID 19 gripped the nation and the world, she followed the news closely and saw the need for masks as she learned over the shortage of masks and supplies at healthcare facilities. She took action and asked her daughter to help her coordinate a community effort to address the need.
As she quickly began the work of sewing masks, her daughter created a social media group that grew to over 700 followers within 48 hours of its publication.
And so the Waco Seamstress for Crisis was created. Reyna Reyes, daughter of Matea, also an immigrant, having spent 40 years of her life in Waco, took immediate action and reached out to local officials, coordinating with the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, the McLennan County Emergency Operations Center, members of the McLennan County Medical Alliance, the Texas Medical Association and local Chief Medical CEO’s and Administrators.
As news of Waco Seamstress for Crisis spread across various counties in Texas, other counties joined the page as their respective counties to strengthen and unite efforts against COVID.
