Mike Miles, superintendent of Houston ISD (HISD) since June 2023. is the founder and CEO of Third Future Schools, a charter network that faced allegations of funneling Texas taxpayer dollars to Colorado schools. As of early 2026, Miles is proposing to close 12 schools in Houston due to financial
challenges.
