Friendly reminder as we are in the heart of "kitten season"

Please NEVER remove kittens from a cat mom's care. All need to be provided support together. If you notice young kittens in the community and are concerned about environmental factors please reach out for assistance or provide care so the mom can stay with her kittens. Mom cats will leave their babies periodically to eat, search for food/water etc..but will return to them. Feral and Community cats do not typically interact the same with humans as domestic cats do.

We have seen an alarming rise in kittens being dumped in the country or separated from their mom while they are tiny.

It is difficult to keep nursing kittens alive and well with bottle feeding so please before you attempt to intervene- reach out and think about what is best for the kitties

With the kitten crisis continuing in Wabash County and a major rise this year in abandoned, orphaned, and dumped kittens throughout our city and county, while citizens often have virtually nowhere to take them, Community 1st Humane Society of Wabash County is increasing focus on emergency kitten support.

Our community has been flooded for years with citizens trying to help animals in need while often being left scrambling to find help on their own. Because of that, foster and rescue networks are carrying more and more of the burden.

We urgently need fosters willing to take in:
• Bottle-fed kittens
• Kittens with a nursing momma cat

Community 1st Humane Society will supply everything needed, cover spay/neuter and vaccinations, and work to get the kittens adopted into loving homes.

We receive NO tax dollars and are funded solely through donations and community support.

If you can foster or help in any way, please message Community 1st Humane Society of Wabash County
