Caleb is currently in the care of Hold’em Paws Pet Rescue Inc., and we're honored to help share his story with our community. 🐾

Paws To Homes Network Recon and Recovery -Volusia County is proud to begin working alongside Hold’em Paws Pet Rescue Inc. to help give more deserving cats the visibility they need to find their forever homes. 💚

With the overwhelming kitten boom and cat overpopulation crisis affecting our community right now, it's more important than ever for rescues, networking organizations, and animal lovers to come together. By working together, we can reach more people, create more opportunities, and help save more lives.

Over the next several days, we'll be introducing some incredible cats currently in the care of Hold'Em Paws Pet Rescue through our Recon File Series, giving each one their own opportunity to shine and tell their story.

🐾 Today I'd like to introduce someone special to the Paws To Homes Network Recon and Recovery -Volusia County family. 🐾

This is Shawn.

Today is his 12th birthday, and while most kids are thinking about presents, Shawn's wish is simple... he wants animals to be helped.

Around here, Shawn is our unofficial Manager of Operations. His cat, Pookie, proudly serves as Founder, and I'm just the Owner/Operator trying to keep everyone in line.😆

Shawn has a heart that's bigger than most adults. He'd give you the shirt off his back, the shoes off his feet, and anything else he had if he thought it would help someone in need.

One day, he hopes to help lead our drone search and recovery missions and continue helping lost pets find their way home.

So for his birthday, if you'd like to help make his day, skip the gifts and do one act of kindness for an animal. Donate a bag of food, foster a pet, volunteer, share an adoptable animal, or support your favorite rescue. We're happy to share that Selene may have a couple of potential homes, but sweet Molly is still urgently in need of placement.

Molly is a 4-year-old indoor cat who absolutely loves people and attention. She's affectionate, social, good with children, and gets along with other animals.

Due to an unexpected housing crisis, she needs a safe place to land as soon as possible.

🚨 URGENT PLACEMENT NEEDED 🚨

Meet Molly and Selene, a bonded mother-daughter pair who suddenly find themselves needing a safe place to land.

🖤 Molly (4 years old) is incredibly affectionate and loves people.
🖤 Selene (6 months old) is sweet, gentle, and slowly coming out of her shell.

Both girls are:
✔ Indoor only
✔ Good with children
✔ Good with other animals
✔ Friendly and social

Their owner is facing a sudden housing crisis and can no longer keep them. Time is extremely limited, and we are working hard to find a safe placement as quickly as possible.

While we would love to see them remain together, our priority is ensuring both girls have a safe future.

🚨🐾 RESOURCE HELP NEEDED FOR STEVE 🐾🚨

Paws To Homes Network Recon and Recovery -Volusia County is currently assisting a cat named Steve who has an ongoing paw injury that has not yet been evaluated by a veterinarian due to financial hardship.

At this time, we are not asking for donations. We are trying to do things the right way and gather information before moving forward.

We are hoping to connect with anyone who may know of low-cost veterinary clinics, assistance programs, rescue resources, sponsorship opportunities, or other avenues that could help Steve receive an examination so we can determine exactly what is going on and what care may be needed.

Steve is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to talk back, cuddle, and even tries to play despite his injured paw. ❤️ Steve will be needing a new home, but our goal is to help him receive the care he needs first so that he has the best possible chance at a healthy and successful future.

We are also excited and keeping our fingers crossed as we await a response regarding a potential partnership opportunity with an online veterinary telehealth provider. Our hope is not only to explore options for Steve's care, but also to potentially build a resource that could help other pets and families assisted through Paws To Homes Network in the future.

UPDATE: COOKIE AND PUTI HAVE FOUND A SAFE FOREVER HOME🖤🤍

We are incredibly happy to share that these two sweet babies were able to avoid surrender and were placed into a loving home at the very last minute. Thank you so much to everyone who shared, commented, reached out, and helped network them. Even small shares truly make a difference and helped increase visibility during a very urgent situation.

Wishing Cookie and Puti nothing but love, safety, and happy naps in their new home. 🐾

Meet Cookie & Puti 🖤🤍

These two sweet tuxedo babies are suddenly in need of placement due to their owner unexpectedly relocating internationally. A planned temporary arrangement unfortunately fell through, and they now have a surrender appointment scheduled for today.

The biggest goal right now is keeping them together if at all possible. They are friendly, social, indoor cats that do well with people, children, and other animals.

Cookie is the more full tuxedo male, and Puti is the female with more white markings. Both are absolutely adorable and clearly very loved.

Meet the real founder behind the mission. 🐾

This is Pookie. Aka Baby Bow Bow. Aka the reason Paws To Homes Network Recon & Recovery even exists.

When he disappeared for days, I searched nonstop. No sleep. Driving around, walking neighborhoods, posting everywhere, begging for help, checking every bush, every shed, every sound I thought might be him. I was absolutely shattered.

Then one day… he casually walked back through the doggy door like nothing ever happened.

But that fear never left me.

Once you experience not knowing where your baby is, you never look at lost pets the same again. That’s why this mission matters to me so much. Every lost pet post is somebody’s family member. Somebody’s best friend. Somebody’s Pookie.

So now we fight for them too. 🖤

Pookie is already safe in his forever home. Now he’s helping lead the mission to help more animals get home safely and push for better awareness, resources, and protections for pets everywhere.
