SD American Legion Riders 605 made a stop in Arlington today, with Arlington Post 42 proudly hosting the group.

Post 114 was honored to be there in support, and we presented a $400 donation to help strengthen veterans programs and youth initiatives across South Dakota.

Roger Hansen — a dedicated Rider and proud Post 114 member — was there with the group, and his wife joined the Riders today as well. A great day for the Legion family and for supporting the mission.

🌟 Honoring the Unsung Heroes of Volga: American Legion Auxiliary Unit 114 🌟

Because the story of Post 114 is not complete without them.
So many great things come out of the American Legion in Volga that people naturally think of the Post first — the uniforms, the flags, the ceremonies, the events. But behind the scenes, working with heart, consistency, and zero desire for credit, is a powerhouse team that deserves our full appreciation:

❤️ American Legion Auxiliary Unit 114 of Volga
These women are the quiet engine behind nearly every success our Legion Family has.

Across the 2025–2026 Legion year, Unit 114 has been everywhere — serving, teaching, fundraising, mentoring, and strengthening our community in ways most people never see.

Here are just some of the highlights from the past year:

💛 Unit 114 doesn’t just “help.” They lead. They serve. They lift the entire community.
Volga is stronger because of them.
Post 114 is stronger because of them.
Our veterans, students, families, and schools are stronger because of them.

So today, we say it clearly:

Thank you, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 114.
Your service is quiet, constant, and absolutely essential — and we are deeply grateful.

🇺🇸 Celebrating Sioux Valley’s Own — Boys State Lt. Governor Patrick Quale! 🇺🇸

Mother Carissa Quale and grandmother Barbara Martenson joined Patrick Quale at the Boys State banquet, where he had the honor of meeting South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden. Patrick was elected Lieutenant Governor at South Dakota Boys State — an accomplishment that reflects leadership, character, and the respect of his peers.

Being elected at Boys State takes initiative, integrity, and the ability to earn trust. Delegates must campaign, speak publicly, build relationships, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to service. It’s a hands‑on lesson in how democracy works, and Patrick rose to the challenge.

Visiting with Patrick afterward, he shared how grateful he is to Burrows–Young Post 114 for sponsoring him and giving him this opportunity. He said the experience was unforgettable and something he will carry with him into his senior year.

A special thank‑you goes to Mr. Jordan Fast, Sioux Valley history and government teacher and coach, for being a strong advocate for both Boys State and Girls State. His encouragement continues to open doors for Sioux Valley students.

Photos shared by Patrick.
Congratulations, Patrick — the entire Cossack community is proud of you. 🇺🇸💙
