CASA of Tulare County

CASA of Tulare County CASA of Tulare County advocates for children in foster care by being their voice in court. Nearly 700,000 children experience abuse or neglect each year.

That’s a heavy burden for a child to carry. With a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer dedicated to their case, America

’s most vulnerable children will have someone speaking up for their best interests. With your support, more children will have the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home.

June is Family Reunification Month, and here in Tulare County, CASA is shining a light on a program that doesn’t always get the spotlight: Family Connections.

For kids in foster care where reunification with biological family isn’t possible, this program helps build lasting relationships and a sense of belonging that lasts well beyond their time in care.

In our latest video, Family Connections Program Coordinator Joe Iniguez and Advocate Coordinator Jessica Gutierrez sit down to talk about how the program supports kids across Tulare County, and how CASA volunteers and court-appointed advocates play a part in making those connections happen.

Reunification Month celebrates families finding their way back to each other. But we also know that for some children, returning home isn't possible, and that doesn't mean they should grow up without family.

CASA of Tulare County's Family Connections program works to find and rebuild those ties: locating grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and other caring adults who may not even know a child needs them.

Because every child deserves to belong to someone. Permanency isn't always a placement. Sometimes it's a grandparent who shows up. A cousin who remembers. An adult who says, "I see you, and I'm not going anywhere."

That's what Family Connections makes possible.

CASA volunteers come from every walk of life: retired teachers, young professionals, parents, grandparents, people who just want to do something that matters. What they have in common isn't a resume.

It's a decision > to show up, consistently, for a child who needs someone in their corner.

Training starts June 13. There's still time to sign up.

You don't need experience in the foster care system. You just need to care.

We are grateful for Mia Bonta's leadership and advocacy in championing our $20M funding restoration ask so CASAs across California can continue meeting the needs of children and youth in foster care and the juvenile justice systems.

We encourage our communities to keep calling your representatives to ensure funding for Court Appointed Special Advocates is included in the State's final budget.

What does a CASA volunteer actually do? They get to know a child. They build a relationship — the kind that doesn't disappear when a case gets complicated. They show up to court and speak for what the child needs.

And they do it with about 10–15 hours a month. If you've been wondering whether you have what it takes, you do.

Our next training class begins June 13, and spots are still open. Link in comments to learn more and register.

Reunification doesn't happen in a courtroom — it happens because someone showed up. ❤️

A CASA volunteer is with a child every step of the process. They talk to teachers, social workers, and doctors. They attend court hearings. They write reports that help judges understand what a child truly needs — including whether the family is ready to reunite safely.

They are often the most consistent adult in a child's life during the hardest season of their family's story. This is the work. And we need more people willing to do it.

Our next training class begins June 13.

June is National Reunification Month — and at CASA of Tulare County, this month means a lot.

The goal of foster care has always been to safely reunite children with their families whenever possible. Reunification isn't just an outcome — it's a restoration. A family finding its way back to each other. This June, we're celebrating the families who fought hard, the advocates who showed up, and the children who deserved nothing less than a chance to find home.

Follow along all month. Their stories matter.

Advocacy is an act of love. 💚

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re celebrating the CASA volunteers who show up for foster youth in Tulare County — not because they have to, but because they choose to.

A walk in the park. A conversation. A consistent presence. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can give a child is your time.

Next training starts June 13, 2026 in Visalia, CA. Must be 21+. Call (559) 625-4007 or visit the link in comments.
