As the last hours of 2025 wind down, we wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who supported us and helped us give the Gift of Rest to families facing disability and cancer this year - our families, friends, volunteers, donors, and our sponsors🌺

Over the past couple weeks, we here at SEEN have been taking some time off to rest, spend time with family and friends, and reflect on all the support we have received from this community to carry out our mission of providing the Gift of Rest to families facing disability or cancer.

That said, before 2025 comes to an end, we invite you to meet Beth, hear her story, and learn how you can help her feel SEEN.

Beth is a 32-year-old mother of two who was recently diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a neuromuscular disease that causes severe muscle weakness.

Previously employed as a hairstylist at SEEN partner Jovi Hair Salon in Virginia Beach, Beth urgently needs an elevating power wheelchair that will help prevent falls and provide physical support so she can continue to work safely and maintain her independence.

We are currently working to raise $7,000 to give Beth and her family the Gift of Rest that this chair will provide for her. SEEN is a nonprofit built on the belief that community has the power to transform lives. We know this because we’ve lived it — we’ve felt the incredible strength of a community that shows up when life feels too heavy to carry alone. Our mission is to pass that forward — to create spaces where families facing cancer or disability can pause, breathe, and truly feel SEEN. We call it the Gift of Rest. It’s more than a break — it’s a reminder that they are not invisible, that they belong, and that others care enough to stand with them.

🌟 Meet Our Team! 🌟 We’re honored to introduce Cristina Pocta, co-founder of SEEN. A proud New Yorker and DominiRican, Cristina has made Virginia Beach her home—a place she’s grown to love deeply.

Cristina and her husband, Andrew, have been married for 13 years. From the very beginning, their bond was built on a shared love for serving the poor and those most in need. Together, they’ve built a beautiful family: raising two children with Spina Bifida and welcoming a third through adoption.

Through these experiences, Cristina has gained a powerful and unique understanding of what it means to be SEEN. She knows firsthand the struggles and the beauty of life with disability, and she carries a fierce passion to make sure others feel valued, noticed, and cared for.
