Ubuntu Haitian American Alliance (UHAA) warmly invites you to the official launch of the Entèdepandans Leadership Tour, taking place as we celebrate Haitian Flag Day (May 18th).

In the spirit of Ubuntu: “I am because we are”: this event is a call for our community to come together, celebrate our culture, and take ownership of our future. This isn't just an event; it's a movement to honor our heritage and awaken the leader within each of us.

A civil rights icon has transitioned to eternity but his legacy will continue to live on with and within us.

We pause to honor Rev. Jesse Jackson and the generations he inspired to organize, to vote, to speak up, and to keep going.

Ubuntu teaches us: I am because we are. His life was a reminder that dignity is not a private gift: it is something we defend together.

May his memory strengthen every person working for justice, at every level, in every community.

We are looking out for 350,000 of our Haitian neighbors. At UHAA, we live by the principle of Ubuntu: I am because we are. Our community is only as strong as the people within it, and right now, that strength is being tested.

We have joined forces with the IJDH to ensure our neighbors can stay in this country through Temporary Protected Status. There is a lot of uncertainty right now. While Judge Aya Reyes issued an injunction to stop the cancellation of TPS, the Administration has already appealed it. This appeal could lead to the immediate termination of status for hundreds of thousands of people.

This is why we need Congress to act. Representative Ayanna Pressley has introduced H.R. 965, a discharge petition that would provide the protection our community needs.

The momentum is building: we are up to 154 signatures, with 17 added just yesterday. We only need 64 more.

Collective protection requires collective action. Please join hands with us and the IJDH. Reach out to your representatives and urge them to sign the discharge petition for H.R. 965. We are in this together.

Our time is now! ✊🏾 Tonight, our young leaders are showing up for the collective power of all workers. We’re teaming up with the NAACP Youth & College Division and AFGE for a special Young Worker March Townhall, and you need to be in the room.

At UHAA, we’re all about that Ubuntu spirit: “I am because we are.” When our young workers are empowered, our whole community right here in Hampton Roads and beyond gets stronger. This is about dignity, unity, and taking collective responsibility for our future.

UHAA is a proud supporter of TACA (Tidewater African Cultural Alliance), and they are putting together an amazing night featuring B.M. & Friends on February 21st.
