Tell the Spanberger Administration that Virginia does not want federal school vouchers. - Keep public funding in public schools!

The Trump Administration and its allies are using misinformation to entice states to participate in the federal Tax-Credit school voucher scheme. Now it is up to each state's governor to decide whether to ā€œopt intoā€ or out of the program before January 1, 2027. Governor Youngkin informally opted Virginia into the program, but now it is time for Governor Spanberger to opt Virginia out.

Go to https://actionnetwork.org/letters/no-federal-school-vouchers/ to send emails to Governor Spanberger, Lieutenant Governor Hashmi, Attorney General Jones, and Virginia Secretary of Education Smith, asking them to remove Virginia from participation in the federal voucher scheme.

Two of the worst pieces of misinformation about the program are claims that:

1) public schools will benefit
2) public school systems will not be economically impacted.

In fact, public schools WILL NOT BENEFIT from the program. Experts warn that the voucher scheme is all risk and no reward, and Jessica Levin, education litigator with the Education Law Center, warned that the benefit to public schools ā€œwould be like paying $5 for a benefit of $1."

Virginians should insist that the Spanberger administration opt Virginia out of this harmful scheme.

This performance of "Good Girl Gone Single, a Guide to Rest" will be presented free of charge at 7 pm on Thursday, September 24, at Great Neck Pavilion, 2513 Shorehaven Dr. in Virginia Beach, VA. It is written, directed, and performed by Sherilynn Cherry, a Registered Drama Therapist, Theatre Professor, and Playwright. Sign up to attend for free by filling out the form at... https://www.rougeva.org/aaogggs

This show is a One Woman Force in Positivity! How do we heal? How do we gather the pieces of our lives and create rituals of renewal? The piece explores Cherry's healing journey from brokenness to wholeness through rest, ritual, and community. Good Girl Gone Single has been featured in Fringe festivals along the East Coast and has earned rave reviews.

In Good Girl Gone Single, Cherry invites audiences into a bold, funny, and deeply personal journey through heartbreak, self-discovery, and transformation. Blending poetry, storytelling, humor, and ritual theatre, Cherry explores the realities of divorce, dating, motherhood, and the often messy process of rebuilding a life after it has been broken open.

What begins as one woman’s story becomes a shared meditation on identity, resilience, and wholeness. With honesty and heart, Cherry transforms personal experience into communal reflection, asking what it means to move through pain without being defined by it—and what it might look like to reclaim ā€œsingleā€ not as a loss, but as a return to self.

Presented as part of ROÅŖGE’s Arts All Over Series, Good Girl Gone Single creates space for laughter, recognition, release, and renewal. It is a theatrical ritual for anyone who has had to begin again.

Cherry has an MFA in Script and Screenwriting and an MA in Theatre from Regent University. She also has a BA in Dance/Theatre from Old Dominion University. Her therapeutic initiatives include work with marginalized communities, women, and those in need of a ā€œrest revolution.ā€

Through her therapeutic creative arts program, Act and Chat, and curriculum development, she provides trauma-informed mental health support to high school theatre students and performing artists.

Cherry is the mother of three amazing children and resides in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
