We are incredibly grateful to Twin Pine Bison Ranch and Charles Hoskinson for their extraordinary generosity and support of the Sheepdog Coalition.
Because of you, combat veterans were given the opportunity to experience something truly special on your Wyoming ranch—resulting in the successful harvest of 6 cow elk, 2 bison, and 5 Merriam turkeys. The donated lodging, guide services, and the inclusion of two bison made this hunt not just possible, but unforgettable.
This experience was about far more than the harvest. It was about camaraderie, purpose, healing, and the kind of hospitality that makes our veterans feel truly valued.
A heartfelt thank you as well to Kevin Gross and Jeremy Thacker for their outstanding hospitality and for making everyone feel at home from start to finish.
We are honored to work alongside people who so clearly understand the mission and heart behind supporting our combat veterans.

Today, we honor every veteran whose courage, sacrifice, and quiet strength safeguard the freedoms we hold dear.

At The Sheepdog Coalition, our mission is simple and fierce: to stand in the gap for combat veterans through Wellness, Advocacy, and Recreation. We walk beside warriors long after the battlefield goes silent, helping them restore health, purpose, and connection through individualized functional medicine, trusted guidance, and nature-based retreats that rebuild the soul.

Every veteran we serve reminds us why this mission matters. Their resilience fuels our work. Their stories shape our programs. Their lives are the reason we show up, every single day.

Honoring Bill Bates 🕊️
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and Board of Advisors member, Bill Bates.
From the very beginning, Bill has been part of The Sheepdog Coalition family — a compassionate counselor, mentor, and advocate who dedicated his life to helping combat veterans heal, reconnect, and find purpose. Through his work leading group wellness sessions for combat veterans, he guided hundreds of servicemembers toward peace and strength.
Bill’s kindness, wisdom, and deep empathy touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a trusted voice on both our Wellness and Advocacy Boards and an unwavering supporter of the brotherhood he loved so deeply. His impact will continue to ripple through the lives of those he helped and the mission he strengthened.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Oman Funeral Home, located at 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring the life of a man who touched so many with his kindness and wisdom.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
