At ACE MV, partnerships help make education more accessible, and we're grateful to work alongside organizations that share that mission.

The Martha’s Vineyard Adult Learning Program plays an important role in supporting adult learners across the Island through English language instruction and educational opportunities. Through our partnership, MVALP helps connect advanced English language learners to ACE MV’s Advanced ESL courses, creating a pathway for students to continue building their language skills and confidence.

Together, we're helping adult learners strengthen communication skills, pursue personal and professional goals, and access new opportunities through education.

We're proud to partner with MVALP in supporting lifelong learning and helping Islanders thrive. πŸŒ±πŸ“š

Excited to be celebrating the first group of students completing their required 600 hours of coursework since ACE MV partnered with Upper Cape Tech to offer these classes on island. These students took four years of night classes to earn the required 600 hours of electrical coursework needed to become licensed electricians. The next step for these students is to pass the state exam and become journeyman electricians.

Partnership Feature ✨ SCORE

Supporting local businesses starts with supporting the people behind them.

SCORE is a nonprofit organization that provides free business mentoring and educational resources to entrepreneurs and small business owners. Through experienced volunteer mentors, SCORE helps individuals navigate everything from launching a new business to overcoming challenges and planning for long-term growth.

On Martha's Vineyard, SCORE volunteers are working to revive on-Island small business mentorship, helping create stronger connections between local entrepreneurs and the guidance they need to succeed.

For aspiring business owners, established entrepreneurs, and anyone exploring a new venture, access to experienced mentors can make all the difference.

ACE MV is grateful for partners like SCORE who help expand opportunities for learning, professional growth, and economic vitality across the Island community.

Meet the Team ✨

Sonja's journey with ACE MV began as a student.

Back in 2019, she enrolled in business and community enrichment courses through ACE MV while building her own career on Martha's Vineyard. Since then, her connection to lifelong learning has come full circle.

Before joining the ACE MV team, Sonja coordinated the International Baccalaureate Program at Martha's Vineyard Public Charter School and taught a course called Personal & Professional Skills. She later began teaching Career Readiness workshops through ACE MV, and one opportunity led to another.

Today, Sonja serves as the SOS: School for Off-Season Survival Program Coordinator while also supporting ACE MV's marketing, graphic design, and social media efforts. Her unique combination of educational experience and creative skills helps connect Islanders with opportunities for learning, career development, and community engagement.

Outside of ACE MV, Sonja is passionate about health and wellness. She teaches health classes at the Charter School and operates her Ayurvedic health practice, Seasons of Life Ayurveda. Whether she's planning workshops, spending time outdoors, exploring with her husky pup, or visiting her homeland of Finland, Sonja brings curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning to everything she does.

As both a former student and current staff member, Sonja embodies the lifelong learning spirit at the heart of ACE MV's mission.

Congratulations to our RTAP students on completing their first year of the Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program! πŸŽ‰πŸ“š

Recently, the cohort came together to prepare for the MTEL examβ€”another important milestone on their journey toward becoming licensed educators.

The Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program (RTAP) is a job-embedded pathway to teacher licensure in Massachusetts that allows aspiring educators to earn while they learn. Apprentices work as paid employees in schools while completing approved coursework and gaining valuable classroom experience under the guidance of experienced mentors.

By expanding access to the teaching profession and strengthening local educator pipelines, RTAP helps create new opportunities for future teachers while addressing workforce needs in our schools.
We're proud of the dedication, hard work, and commitment these students have shown throughout their first year and look forward to supporting them as they continue their path toward becoming educators.

πŸ‘ Join us in congratulating this incredible group on all they have accomplished so far!

⏰ Looking for a summer internship? Time is running out.

Most CAMP! internship opportunities have already been filled, and only two internships remain open for Summer 2026.

🌿 **Food System Internship with Island Grown Initiative**

Get your hands in the soil while supporting food access programs across Martha's Vineyard. Work on a regenerative farm, assist in school gardens, support the community kitchen, and help provide fresh food to Islanders.

πŸ“š **Historical Tour Guide Internship with the African American Heritage Trail**

Develop public speaking and leadership skills while sharing the rich history of Martha's Vineyard. Lead guided tours, conduct historical research, and help preserve important stories for future generations.

Both opportunities offer hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the Island community while exploring potential career paths.

πŸ“£ These are the final CAMP! internships available this summer, and start dates are approaching quickly.

Apply now through the link in our bio before these opportunities are gone. πŸ”—
