Hi everyone!

We have had a lot of people ask how DataOne is allowed to keep building. Our understanding is that they’re allowed to continue building on the site plan that has been previously approved (summer of 2025). It looks like they are still working on phase 2 of that site plan.

Since that site plan was approved, they’ve changed their power source twice. The site plan associated with the first of those power sources never made it to the planning board, and we are still waiting to see the newest site plan with the power source they’re now planning on using (Bloom Energy fuel cells). That updated site plan and any associated changes will need to be voted on by the Vineland Planning Board. In the meantime, they can continue building anything approved by the planning board previously in 2025.

We found these aerial photos online, and here are screenshots of the approved site plan from 2025. We will keep this page posted when we see another new site plan or planning board date.

Hi everyone!

We are hearing that DataOne has not yet submitted a new site plan for review, so the planning board meeting will not take place on 6/25 as previously anticipated.

Our best guess would be July 23.

Also hearing some rumblings in Pleasantville 🫠

Why does the CEO of DataOne continue to misrepresent the details of this project?

We are trying to better understand the ordinance removing the formula in the recovery clause for the water utility, as there is the potential for this change to allow future costs associated with large amounts of water consumption to more significantly be passed on to households without limits or safeguards. The clause factors in the cost of “process equipment and material replacement”. Residents have made it clear we do not want to subsidize the infrastructure or operating cost of a major commercial development… such as oh, say, a data center that once asked for up to 2.2 million gallons of water per day. Given the current climate, the optics and confusion related to this change are concerning and further underscore residents many concerns. While there are provisions for the recovery cost to be more equitably distributed throughout the billing cycles so as to prevent undue volatility, without an established formula or calculator what transparency or safeguards would be in place for residents? How would this impact customers should a new customer come and consume exorbitant amounts of water, especially at peak times or require the water utility to significantly upgrade current equipment and processes? We’ll keep you updated as we process and learn more.

We have a right to be concerned about the water.

Agenda for tonight’s Vineland City Council meeting (5:30 PM at city hall). I’m not seeing a full agenda packet as of 10:30 AM, though I’m glad they’re finally rescinding the $6 million loan, five months after Charles told everyone at the DataOne town hall that he rejected the funds.

Closing this out Thursday night. Get yours if you haven’t already 🤣
